Job description

A3 Technology, Inc. is seeking a Telecommunications Field Technician to provide hands-on technical execution and verification support for the FAA Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) Small Voice Switch Replacement (S-VCS) effort under the Voice Program. This role supports post-site survey activities, installation readiness, technical verification and testing, and legacy Voice Communication System (VCS) decommissioning and disposition at FAA facilities across the National Airspace System (NAS).

The position requires advanced technical expertise in electronics systems, structured cabling, power verification, and field execution within operational FAA environments, with close coordination among Program Management, Engineering Services, Technical Operations, vendors, and site personnel to ensure compliance with FAA standards and safe continuity of air traffic operations.

Responsibilities:

Technical Installation Readiness & Verification

  • Perform independent technical verification of power, grounding, and interconnect cabling to confirm compliance with approved designs, equipment specifications, and site requirements.
  • Validate wiring accuracy, labeling, continuity, and terminations in preparation for S-VCS equipment installation and activation.
  • Document test results and verification outcomes and update designated program repositories or fusion hubs to ensure traceability and readiness for FAA acceptance.

Post-Site Survey & Field Execution Support

  • Support post-site survey activities by validating survey findings, identifying technical discrepancies, and assisting with remediation planning to bring sites to an install-ready condition.
  • Coordinate on-site activities with Facilities Key Personnel (KP), Engineering Services, Technical Operations (Tech Ops), Air Traffic personnel, and vendors.
  • Provide technical oversight during vendor installation or remediation activities to ensure adherence to FAA standards and approved plans.

Legacy VCS Decommissioning & Disposition Support

  • Support physical removal of decommissioned legacy VCS equipment, including associated cabling, racks, and peripheral components, following FAA-approved procedures.
  • Assist with packaging, staging, and preparation of equipment for transfer, reuse, or environmentally compliant disposal.
  • Validate equipment inventories, serial numbers, and configurations prior to shipment or disposal and assist with required disposition documentation.

Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Perform all work in accordance with FAA safety, security, and site-specific access requirements.
  • Ensure activities minimize operational impact to air traffic services and comply with environmental and property management requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, auditable records of technical work performed, discrepancies identified, and corrective actions completed.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Provide timely inputs to site execution reports, installation oversight records, and disposition documentation.
  • Support preparation of deliverables requiring technical verification entries, installation coordination records, and final disposition completion documentation.

Skills Required:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Telecommunications, or a related discipline (or equivalent military or field experience).
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience as an electronics technician supporting complex communications, radar, or mission-critical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience performing power, cabling, and interconnect verification in operational environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation plans.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail in safety-critical environments.
  • Proficiency using test equipment (e.g., multimeters, cable testers, continuity testers).
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Skills Preferred:

  • Prior experience supporting FAA, DoD, or other Federal aviation or critical infrastructure programs.
  • Familiarity with Voice Communication Systems (VCS), VoIP-based communications, or air traffic control support systems.
  • Experience supporting system cutovers, decommissioning, or legacy system disposition activities.
  • OSHA safety training or equivalent field safety certifications.

Work Environment & Travel

  • Work is primarily performed on-site at FAA facilities across the NAS, with additional work at contractor or integrator facilities as required.
  • Position requires frequent nationwide travel to FAA sites in support of surveys, remediation, installation readiness, and disposition execution.

Additionally, US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US is a must. Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, candidates will undergo a Government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for Government clearance. Verification of past employment, education and references is also required. It is imperative that candidates be either a US citizen or a current green card holder with the last 3 consecutive years as a resident of the US.

The salary range for positions is $50,000 to $175,000. This range is provided as a general guideline and should not be interpreted as a guarantee of compensation. Actual salary offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific responsibilities of the position, the candidate's education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
