Job description

Position Summary
Responsible for the heat treat processes and monitoring the furnace lines in the Heat Treat Department.
Essential Functions
Operate mobile equipment.
Train and mentor teammates.
Maintain housekeeping standards in the department.
Schedule product to be processed.
Verify product with a bin ticket prior to loading product and reload bins once process is completed.
Enter recipes on the load end of furnace, set up the process parameters, and monitor the processes.
Set up and/or monitor all temperature changes and gaps.
Sample prep for all testing functions for product as required.
Perform all product testing required within the heat treat process.
Monitor and record proper data on the required log sheets.
Complete all shift reports and downtime logs.
Collect shift micro's.
Standardize rockwell hardness testers and tensile machines.
Enter test data into systems.
Process the bin tickets and verify accuracy of the information.
Perform all atmosphere testing and record data as well as dew points, Carbon shims, and/or 5 gas testing as required (with adjustments being made, as required).
Add chemicals to the soluble tanks, as directed, by the waste water technicians concentration test results.
Identify and process non-conforming product per work instructions.
Understand the alarms and the color coded furnace light stacks.
Start up and shut down the hardening furnace and atmosphere generators.
Troubleshoot furnace problems to include, but not limited, to conveyors, gas trains and ignition systems.
Vent atmospheric gas into the furnace.
Respond to power outage or sudden shut down.
Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment.
Ensure safety standards are adhered to at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities
Must be able to read and interpret data.
Must be able to use a variety of tensile lab testing equipment and tools.
Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Must be able to multi task.
Good troubleshooting skills.
Basic computer knowledge as well as data entry skills.
Ability to communicate well.
Education
High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
Experience
Basic computer skills and data entry a plus.
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Mobile equipment experience required.
Working Conditions
Must be able to stand for up to 8+ hours. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds continuously and 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to bend and stoop. Must be able to use both hands. Must have accurate vision. Must be flexible and willing to work OT, including weekends, as required.
