Job Summary The Manager, Fund Accounting has two primary responsibilities: (1) overseeing accurate and timely preparation and delivery of recurring financial reporting packages for Debt and Joint Venture (JV) entities; and (2) onboarding and developing a team of associates to execute those functions. These reporting packages relate to the activities of both Invitation Homes and its partners, resulting in delivery of financial information to internal stakeholders, lenders and JV partners. This role also assists in the preparation of debt transactions, construction lending accounting entries, capital call notices, distribution notices, equity pick-ups, and other investment reporting requirements and may also assist with quarterly and annual SEC filings. The Manager, Fund Accounting will encourage the development of associates through ongoing performance management, career development conversations, training, and mentoring. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a supervisory role, high proficiency in full cycle investment accounting, well-developed organizational skills, an attention to detail, and a thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Manage the reporting process for Debt and JV entities to ensure accurate reporting within established closing and reporting calendars, including preparation and review of deliverables and adherence to established deadlines. Oversee and review all areas of JV entity-level accounting including, but not limited to, debt transactions, capital calls, distributions, equity pick-ups, other expenses, and monthly and quarterly journal entries. Prepare and review debt-related calculations and schedules including, but not limited to, debt roll-forwards and reconciliations, recognition and amortization of deferred financing costs, accounting for derivatives and swaps, other expenses, and monthly and quarterly journal entries. Prepare and review construction lending portfolio accounting transaction and related activities, including accruals, reconciliations, current expected credit loss, fair value, cash management, and collaboration with cross-functional construction lending teams. Read and understand partnership and JV agreements, investment documents, entity structures, investment prospectuses, loan agreements, and interest rate swap agreements. Collaborate with internal and external customers and stakeholders, such as JV partner representatives, other corporate departments, field representatives, and Senior Leadership. Collaborate with internal and external teams regarding various confidential projects, including work with new entities or structures and reviewing draft and final documents, agreements, and information. Assist in the budget process and provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end variance to budget analysis. Encourage team engagement and create an environment to foster associate development. Establish, communicate, and train new policies and procedures, and liaise with internal and external auditors while ensuring SOX and other compliance and reporting matters are maintained. Participate in key projects and innovate processes to gain team efficiencies. Comply with policies, procedures, and controls and bring inconsistencies and problems to management's attention. Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or related field) is required. 5+ years of experience including fund or investment accounting, with public accounting experience a plus. 2+ years of experience supervising and managing a team. Experience in the real estate industry (or a large public company) and with Yardi is a plus. Skills/Specialized Knowledge Highly self-motivated and directed with an ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities including the ability to identify and implement best practices that improve the team's effectiveness and efficiency. Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Proficient with Excel and excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including an ability to effectively present information and build and manage key cross-functional relationships. Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to senior leadership, clearly communicating key insights, risks, and recommendations. High energy and a can-do attitude, exhibiting a responsible and responsive tenacity. Willingness and ability to be hands on to get the job done. Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Other Requirements Must maintain professional appearance. Ability to be at work on a regular and consistent basis; overtime may be required for this position. Physical and Mental Demands This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking. Salary RangeThe salary range for this position is: $79,987.50 - $138,645.00, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.Compensation and Benefits
