Production Engineering Manager
Company:

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Production Engineering Manager (Level K) to lead an integrated group of engineers and technical employees in support of 787 production engineering at Boeing South Carolina in North Charleston, SC. This position is for 2nd shift.
The Production Engineering manager will facilitate communications with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain as well as other leaders if necessary to develop Engineering solutions to production deviations in addition to improving the overall 787 production system.
This position may also provide higher Material Review Board (MRB) functions and oversight, interface with airline representatives, regulatory agencies and suppliers/partners to resolve issues impacting the aircraft build, test and delivery. The manager will staff and direct a technical team, establish group goals, manage budgets, monitor performance against program and functional commitments while maintaining and developing technical employees within the team.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Promotes and maintains a safe and healthy work environment
  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in Production Engineering
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements Develops and maintains relationships with operations/quality teams and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees
  • Potentially provides higher Material Review Board (MRB) oversight
  • Interfaces with Operations, Quality, Engineering, airline representatives, regulatory agencies and suppliers/partners to resolve issues impacting aircraft build, test and delivery
  • Staff and direct a technical team in establishing team goals
  • Monitors group performance against program and functional commitments while developing technical employees within the team
  • Position will require weekend and off shift support as necessary

To be considered for this position you will be required to complete an assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership"
  • Willing to work 2nd shift

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of experience in the following: aircraft production, ground operations and/or flight-line operations
  • 3+ years of experience managing and/or leading a team either formally or informally, with the ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members
  • 1+ years of experience in Material Review Board processes
  • Experience in leading or managing teams
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

Shift:
This position is for 2nd shift. Weekend and off-shift support may be required based on business needs.
