Pump Mechanical Engineer

As a Pump Mechanical Engineer, you will support the development of advanced pump and artificial lift technologies through mechanical design, analysis, testing, and product qualification activities. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, support product innovation, and help deliver high-performance solutions that meet customer and business requirements while ensuring compliance with engineering standards and industry best practices.

As a Pump Mechanical Engineer, you will leverage your technical expertise, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities to develop and optimize rotating equipment and pump technologies. You will contribute to product development efforts from conceptual design through qualification, collaborate across functions to deliver technical solutions, and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, manufacturability, and performance excellence.

As a Pump Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • Supporting the mechanical design and development of pump systems and rotating equipment, from concept through detailed design and product qualification.
  • Designing, analyzing, and evaluating mechanical components and subsystems using sound engineering principles and established design practices.
  • Executing product development projects through the New Product Introduction (NPI) process while meeting technical, cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
  • Developing engineering plans to achieve project requirements, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Performing engineering analysis and technical evaluations to improve product performance, reliability, and functionality.
  • Utilizing engineering tools and methodologies to support mechanical design, validation, and optimization activities.
  • Collaborating with Manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, and other cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and product launch readiness.
  • Supporting design for manufacturability, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Identifying technical risks and developing mitigation plans to address engineering challenges and project issues.
  • Documenting and maintaining technical data, engineering reports, specifications, and design records in accordance with company procedures.
  • Providing timely communication regarding project status, technical developments, and key engineering decisions.
  • Conducting all business activities in accordance with company health, safety, environmental, legal compliance, and ethical standards.
Responsibilities, Authorities and Accountabilities
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products.
  • Lead analytical and design activities using proven technologies and established engineering methods.
  • Communicate across the organization and present technical information to senior leaders (EB and SEB) and cross-functional teams regarding technology solutions and project progress.
  • Connect technologies across functions and develop integrated solutions while working on cross-functional projects to support business objectives and product strategies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; or a High School Diploma/GED with at least 4 years of Engineering/Technology experience.
  • Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in Mechanical Component design, engineering, or related technical functions.
  • Experience with rotating equipment, pump technologies, or related mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of engineering analysis, product development processes, and mechanical design principles.
Desired Characteristics
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience with artificial lift systems including ESP, PCP, Gas Lift, or Rod Pumping technologies.
  • Expertise in pump and rotating equipment design within industrial or energy applications.
  • Experience executing product development activities through structured NPI processes.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or NX.
  • Experience using engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS for FEA and CFD applications.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and ANSI/ASME Y14 drawing standards.
  • Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with demonstrated interpersonal and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to influence others, lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact, and collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Effective problem identification, root-cause analysis, and solution-development skills.
  • Proven analytical and organizational abilities with strong attention to detail.
