Accounting Operations Manager

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

Location: Orange County, CA โ€” onsite, 5 days per week

Compensation: $110,000+ base, plus bonus and a strong benefits package


Position Summary

Our client, a well-established organization, is seeking an experienced Accounting Operations Manager to oversee a dual-function role spanning accounting and operations. This position combines hands-on accounting responsibility with ownership of certain areas of operations such as HR and benefits administration, working closely with the Assistant Controller and reporting directly to the COO. The role also plays a part in the organization's broader operational initiatives, including its ongoing efforts to modernize systems through AI.


Key Responsibilities


Accounting

- Manage journal entries and support monthly financial statement preparation

- Provide backup coverage for the Assistant Controller during absences, with training provided across the department's critical processes

- Support the annual audit and tax return process alongside the company's outside CPA firm

- Maintain accurate, well-organized accounting records and oversee day-to-day accounting operations


Operations

- Administer employee benefits, including medical and dental, and manage annual open enrollment

- Oversee hiring and onboarding processes and maintain HR system records

- Handle confidential HR, benefits, and compensation information with discretion

- Take on broader office and cross-functional operational responsibilities as needed

- Contribute to the organization's initiative to implement AI within HR systems and operations


Qualifications

- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, with solid command of debits/credits and journal entries - Minimum 4 years of operations and/or HR experience

- Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas and spreadsheet development - Working knowledge of financial statements

- Experience with Acumatica or similar ERP systems preferred

- CPA not required

- College degree in accounting, finance, business or related industry
