What is a Functional Medicine RN?

A Functional Medicine RN (Registered Nurse) is a nursing professional trained in the principles of functional medicine, which focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of disease rather than just treating symptoms. They work collaboratively with patients and interdisciplinary teams to develop personalized care plans that consider genetics, environment, and lifestyle factors. Functional Medicine RNs may provide patient education, health coaching, and support in areas such as nutrition, stress management, and preventive care. Their goal is to help patients achieve optimal wellness through holistic and evidence-based approaches.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a Functional Medicine RN?

To thrive as a Functional Medicine RN, you need a solid foundation in nursing practice, a deep understanding of functional medicine principles, and an active RN license. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), integrative health assessment tools, and functional lab testing is typically required. Exceptional communication, patient education, and motivational interviewing skills help build strong patient relationships and support lifestyle changes. These skills are essential for delivering personalized, holistic care that addresses root causes and promotes lasting patient wellness.

How does a Functional Medicine RN collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop patient care plans?

As a Functional Medicine RN, you'll work closely with physicians, dietitians, and other specialists to create comprehensive, personalized care plans for patients. Your role involves gathering detailed patient histories, assisting with diagnostic assessments, and communicating findings to the healthcare team. Collaboration is key, as you'll frequently participate in interdisciplinary meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust care plans based on evolving needs. This team-based approach helps ensure holistic and effective patient support throughout their treatment journey.

Job description

ABOUT LIFEFORCE
People are done waiting to get sick before getting care. They want to understand their bodies, take control of how they feel, and actually invest in how long and how well they live. The system wasn't built for that. We are.
Over the next decade, more than one trillion dollars will shift away from traditional sick-care toward proactive, personalized health programs. Lifeforce is leading that shift as the world's largest longevity medicine program, and we're just getting started.
Founded alongside clinical and scientific leaders from Cleveland Clinic, Mass General Hospital, and Harvard Medical School, we bring together everything it takes to help people truly understand and optimize how their bodies are functioning now and decades to come. Comprehensive diagnostics, hands-on clinical experts, certified health coaches, and customized supplement, pharmaceutical, and lifestyle protocols. All from home. At the price of a gym membership.
OVERVIEW
Lifeforce is expanding its clinical footprint through Ultimate Longevity Centers (ULC), a franchise network bringing proactive, in-person care to communities across the country. Each ULC is designed to deliver the same best-in-class member experience our members know from Lifeforce - now with on-site clinical care, hands-on treatments, and a dedicated team embedded within the center. As we expand across the country, we are building the clinical team that will bring this model to life from the ground up.

This position represents an amazing opportunity for forward-thinking RNs with an interest in functional medicine and hormone optimization who are eager to learn and grow their skill set while delivering a best-in-class member experience. As a Lifeforce clinical teammate, you will work alongside our physicians and health coaches to ensure our members receive best-in-class care. You will be one of the first on-site Lifeforce RNs to bring our clinical model to life in a physical space, embedded within a ULC clinic location to deliver the same exceptional experience our members have come to expect.
