Spring Event and Promotions Intern Job Description
Background:
Hartford Athletic is Connecticut's professional soccer franchise competing in the United Soccer League. Hartford Athletic strives to grow the game we love, in the city we love and is creating a dynamic, built-to-win organization dedicated to providing opportunities for our team and community on and off the field. The Club aims to make the city, state, and region proud, and, in doing so, make Hartford the best place to live, work, and play.
Position Summary:
Event Day and Guest Services Members will serve a critical role within the organization, as they will help ensure the Club is properly implementing and managing a best-in-class gameday experience as well as helping to promote the Club and our mission at other events and community engagements. Candidates will work alongside each other in building positive community outreach with appearances and becoming brand ambassadors for the Club. Candidates will get first-hand, behind-the-scenes experience of everything it takes to operate successful gamedays and events. Candidates will also be instrumental in working with our Mascot and First Team players at engaging events directly. This is a volunteer internship with availability for college credits.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Fan experience implementation (e.g. Play on the Pitch, Ball Kids, postgame photos on field etc.)
  • Gameday experience with fan involvement (Team Store, T-Shirt toss, Castle Crew, Family Fun Zone, etc.)
  • Assist with mascot appearances at schools, organizations, partners, watch parties, etc.
  • Partnership activation
  • Marketing and Promotion Tabling
  • Outreach activations and Office Responsibilities (e.g. Prospecting, Inventory with promotional supplies, organize fliers and cards, etc.)
  • Community Engagement and Marketing

Qualifications:
• Knowledge and interest in sports and sports related industry
• Positive attitude and problem-solving approach
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well with a team
• Be comfortable interacting with fans and providing first-class customer service
• Perform strenuous physical duties, including carrying heavy boxes and equipment
• Have charismatic and outgoing characteristics; someone who is easily approachable with knowledge of the Club and our values
• Have reliable transportation
• Must be available to work majority of home matchdays (schedule available on HartfordAthletic.com), weekend and other tabling and community events
