Job description

The Role

The Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC) is seeking an Evening Attendant to join our Youth Programs team.  This Evening Attendant will create a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children ages infant through six in our drop-in childcare space. This role supports MAC families during evening hours by delivering high-quality care while contributing to a positive, welcoming experience for members and their children.

Schedule requirements:

  • Thursdays & Saturdays: 4:00–9:00pm
  • Every 2nd Friday: 4:00–9:00pm (flexible start time)
  • Additional hours may be available based on availability

What You’ll Do

  • Provide attentive, warm, and safe care for children in a group setting
  • Greet families, support smooth child drop-off/pick-up, and communicate with parents
  • Lead age-appropriate activities (games, crafts, play, storytelling)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging childcare environment
  • Support children’s needs, including comfort, behavior guidance, toileting, and hygiene
  • Set up, sanitize, and put away toys, equipment, and activity materials
  • Monitor children’s safety and respond appropriately to any issues or incidents
  • Follow schedules, department procedures, and Club safety standards
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver a positive member experience

  • Experience working with young children (recreational or educational setting preferred)

  • Ability to remain calm, attentive, and responsive in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and stay active (standing, walking, bending) throughout shifts
