Software Engineer I

US Cold owns and operates one of the most complex temperature-controlled logistics networks in North America. Every day, our systems coordinate the storage and movement of food at national scale across a network of state-of-the-art distribution centers, including multiple highly automated warehouse facilities.
As part of our technology modernization strategy, we continue to invest in cloud platforms, application development, automation, and data-driven solutions that support logistics operations throughout the cold chain. Our Logistics Technology team develops and supports strategic platforms that improve transportation planning, visibility, and operational efficiency across the enterprise.
The Role
The Software Engineer I contributes to the design, development, enhancement, and support of SmartMove, US Cold Storage's transportation and logistics platform. This position is ideal for an early-career software engineer who enjoys solving complex business problems, developing modern cloud-based applications, and collaborating with both technical and business teams.
You will help build scalable software solutions, data processing applications, cloud-native services, and system integrations that support transportation operations throughout the cold supply chain,
What You Will Own
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software features for the SmartMove platform.
  • Build and enhance data pipelines, ETL processes, and analytical solutions using Python.
  • Develop and support cloud-native applications using Microsoft Azure services.
  • Design and maintain integrations with third-party transportation systems and external business applications.
  • Build solutions leveraging Snowflake, Azure Blob Storage, PostgreSQL, and related cloud technologies.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing efforts, and software quality initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot application issues across development and production environments.
  • Contribute to software architecture discussions, technical documentation, and engineering best practices.
  • Support Agile development methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
  • Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies to improve platform capabilities and engineering productivity.

What We're Looking For
