Job Title: Sr. Control System Software Engineer (Control Laws)
Working Pattern: Full-time

An exciting opportunity to work with the ACaMS team has arisen. The Sr. Control Laws Engineer will be responsible for the technical development and realization of a control law model for ACaMS. You will provide technical leadership for the control laws team, support planning, and be responsible for supporting internal and external deliveries. Achievement of this will require significant coordination with the customer and other functional teams on requirements and deliverables.
This role consists of a wide variety of functional team members including Embedded Systems, Software Developers, Electronics and Complex Hardware Engineers as well as Safety, Certification, Quality, Component and Applications Engineers.
The ACaMS Program Team is focused on the design/development/realization of the next generation Aero Engine Control System. The ACaMS system is designed to deliver world class efficiency, diagnostics, and cyber treat protection via a modern architectural solution. The ACaMS development team will serve a wide range of gas turbine engines/applications. The ACaMS team scope includes a wide variety of components within the control system including the Computing System, Health Monitoring System and the integration of the Hydromechanical and Sensing/Control components.

What you will be doing
With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:
  • Provide technical guidance to the control law development team and ensure that systems and software certification objectives are met at each technical gate
  • Develop and communicate requirements from the customer and the whole engine team, and in collaboration with the Controls System and Software teams
  • Lead problem solving and risk assessment activities related to the project and assist in establishing the highest standards of technical capability, quality, and teamwork within the development team
  • Representing the Control Law team with the customer; requirements, deliverables, and integration activities
  • Build and maintain a High Performance Culture across a diverse and talented team
  • Support planning and progress tracking for Earned Value Management support with the Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL)

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering with 2+ years of product development engineering experience, OR
  • Master's degree in in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering, OR
  • PhD in degree in in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering
  • Experience with requirements management
  • In order to be eligible for consideration, you must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Requirements:
  • 5+ years' experience in embedded safety critical software engineering and familiar with Model based software design and simulation (Simulink or similar)
  • Control systems experience along with development of verification and testing frameworks
  • Experience working in agile software development teams
  • Strong development experience with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with the design and development of control laws for embedded systems
  • Understanding of DO-178C, DO-331, DO-333, and ARP-4754 objectives for developing safety critical systems
  • Experience with model-based design and verification on multiple platforms (model integration, testing on emulators, hardware-in-the-loop testing)
  • Experience with full software development lifecycle (Design to release)
  • Ability to present technical data to senior engineers and management
