Job description

Bridge Engineer
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Employment Type: Full-Time
For over 70 years Fishbeck has been building. As a 100% employee-owned firm, every team member has a stake in what we build together-our work, our reputation, and our future. Now we need to add a Bridge Engineer to help us keep building.
Working with our Indiana Transportation team, you will support bridge design, analysis, plan preparation, hydraulic analysis, inspections, scoping, load rating, and related consulting engineering services for INDOT and local municipality projects.
What You'll Do
  • Work with experienced professional engineers on bridge design, analysis, calculations, plan preparation, and hydraulic analysis assignments.
  • Support occasional fieldwork related to bridge safety inspections, bridge project scoping, and bridge load rating.
  • Assist in developing project budgets, schedules, reports, and technical documentation.
  • Apply civil engineering principles and specialized design software to support high-quality transportation projects.
  • Collaborate with Fishbeck technical staff across disciplines to deliver bridge design and consulting engineering services, primarily for INDOT and local municipalities.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • 0-4+ years of related bridge engineering experience desired.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification desired; Professional Engineer license is a plus.
  • Internship or bridge design experience with working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications is a plus.
  • Preferred knowledge of INDOT bridge standards and design manuals.
  • Preferred knowledge of Bentley OpenRoads Designer or MicroStation software.
  • Knowledge of design software such as LEAP Bridge Concrete and Steel Design, MDX Steel Design, AASHTO BrR, and/or HEC-RAS is a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, quality-focused, collaborative, and capable of planning work effectively in a project team environment.
