About the Position

Primary Responsibilities:

In your role as Project Manager, you will be part of our growing team by performing the functions and duties listed below:


Project & Client Management

·       Responsible and accountable for the systematic and consistent management, administration, and planning, as well as within budget and on-time performance of multiple engineering projects, contributing to the overall success of the office and our organization

·       Represent our firm in all communications with clients for assigned projects from initial effort, regularly throughout the entire project, and in marketing activities after project completion

·       Upon project award, meet with the client to determine and document client’s expectations, goals, and objectives

·       Understand client’s organization including key people and sensitivities, and establish communication and approval procedures with client, including the appropriate chain of command for all communications

·       Develop the scope of work, task list, and budget for each item, and milestone schedule including client and agency reviews and internal QA/QC reviews for each deliverable in conjunction with Office Management as needed

·       In coordination with Office Management and the Agreements team, prepare client agreements including scope, schedule, fees, and terms and conditions

·       Conduct client review of contract to ensure understanding and negotiate as necessary

·       Ensure contract is executed internally and by client prior to project kick-off

·       Develop and update the Project Management Plan for each project ensuring the project team’s understanding of client’s expectations, scope, schedule, and labor hours required for each task and the overall project

·       Conduct project kick-off meeting with accounting to communicate Project Management Plan to team to ensure understanding of scope, budget, schedule, goals, and agreement

·       Schedule project related meetings coordinate meeting documentation, and ensure follow-up as required

·       Provide daily direction to and monitoring of project team, utilizing engineering and other experience to resolve scope, design, and other challenges ensuring adherence to all JDE standards, QA/QC processes, and other policies related to project execution and management

·       Coordinate all engineering, construction engineering, GIS, CAD, survey, and other needs for assigned projects, scheduling field and office team members and equipment as required, ensuring all projects are within staffing and scheduling requirements as well as budget and scope

·       Throughout the project lifecycle, communicate with technical experts and Practice Leaders as needed for project specific technical guidance and project team technical performance to ensure end product is consistent with contract requirements and meets client’s objectives

·       Monitor financial performance of projects and maintain understanding of terms of agreement, changes in scope, billing process, and any settlements

·       Prepare and submit change orders/contract amendments to agreements team ensuring client execution prior to proceeding with changes

·       Follow Accounts Receivable Guidelines throughout project for invoicing and collections ensuring proactive communication with the client and accounting

·       Review and approve all sub-consultant invoices, noting project and phase, prior to submission to accounting for payment

·       Monitor performance of client responsibilities and communicate deviations as necessary

·       Provide updated progress reports on projects based on client requirements, and act as client’s liaison to outside agencies, vendors, and contractors

·       Oversee all construction administration activity and participate in site meetings and inspections as needed

·       Nurture existing client relationships



Marketing & Business Development

·       Strengthen our reputation as the go-to source by assisting in devising and implementing marketing strategies for reaching new potential clients involving Practice Leaders and/or other technical expertise as necessary to reinforce our firm as thought leaders

·       Proactively seek opportunities for cross-selling to enhance and expand our existing client relationships during and after projects

·       Responsible for new business development activities that enhance and expand our existing client relationships and cultivation of new relationships including initial client marketing meetings, proposal and budget development, presentations, and negotiation meetings in conjunction with Marketing and Office Management as required

·       In conjunction with Office Managers, technical experts, and Practice Leaders, coordinate selection of project team members to meet client expectations

·       Pursue strategic potential clients in conjunction with the Senior Leadership, Regional Directors, Office Management, and other team members and ensure effective transition of new projects

·       Participate in securing funding with local, state, and federal agencies, if required

·       Participate in go/no go decisions, proposal reviews, and agreement execution as per JDE policies ensuring all pursued projects align with our core values and strategic goals


Personnel Management

·       Develop, mentor, and lead Assistant Project Managers and Engineering Team Members to achieve the goals and strategies for the Office including assignment of work and estimation of personnel needs

·       Participate in career path planning and development, performance evaluations, and mentoring as determined by Office Manager


Other

·       Maintain and expand management and professional capabilities through membership and other involvement in industry associations and other professional organizations, pursuing appropriate as well as required continuing education, certifications, writing, and speaking opportunities

·       Practice mindful awareness of your activities and surroundings, and follow all company, OSHA, federal, state, and local health and safety guidelines and requirements

 

Experience & Certifications Required:

·       Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

·       5+ years of engineering experience or other comparable experience

·       Utah Professional Engineer 

·       Proven track record of fostering existing client relationships

·       Strong leadership and team management skills as well as excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills

·       Self-motivated and strategic thinking with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision

Physical Requirements

The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds. 

Working Conditions

Typically, in an office or mobile office environment with frequent visits to client and project sites.  In addition, the team member may be required to visit project sites in various weather conditions and extremes if needed.  The use of special safety precautions and/or equipment may be required.

The team member will be required to attend client meetings at night, as well as occasionally travel overnight for out of town projects and/or to other offices.
