Job description

Description RAM Aersopace is a leader in aerospace innovation, powering flight and space exploration with precision solenoids, valves, and actuators. Since 1975, we've supported missions like the Space Shuttle and continue to deliver mission-critical components for commercial, defense, and satellite systems. As one of Southern Utah's largest employers, we drive economic growth and offer high-skilled careers in engineering and manufacturing. From our advanced facility in St. George, we build the future of aerospace—on time, with excellence, and as a team. Join us to work on groundbreaking technology and help shape the future of flight and space exploration. Your career takes off here! As a Quality Control Final Inspector at RAM, you are the last line of defense between our precision aerospace components and the mission-critical systems they power. Your attention to detail ensures that every solenoid, valve, and actuator meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance—whether it's headed to a commercial jet, a defense platform, or a spacecraft. This role is vital to upholding RAM's reputation for excellence and reliability. With every inspection, you help protect lives, support national security, and advance aerospace innovation. If you take pride in precision and want to make a real impact, this is where your skills take flight. Duties and Responsibilities First Article & Final Inspection: Inspect, test, and measure final-level assembled products for absolute conformance to all requirements and specifications. You will perform critical first article (first piece) buy-offs throughout the assembly process to catch errors early. AS9102 FAI Reporting: Prepare comprehensive, highly detailed AS9102 First Article Inspection reports when required by aerospace customers, documenting that every single design characteristic has been met. Blueprint & GD&T Analysis: Analyze and interpret complex aerospace blueprints, manuals, and data sets. You will apply your knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to determine the exact testing procedures, adjustment methods, and measuring instruments required for each unique component. Precision Measurement & Equipment Verification: Use numerous types of precision handheld inspection tools and instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges). You are responsible for ensuring all measuring equipment is verified, calibrated, and working properly prior to the acceptance of any product. Non-Conformance & Data Logging: Act as the ultimate gatekeeper by rejecting products, materials, or equipment that do not meet requirements. You will meticulously document rejected products per RAM's internal specifications and record vital test data (weights, temperatures, grades, and quantities). Workflow & Logistics: Prepare accepted products for further processing, specialized packaging, or final shipping, and safely transport products to other workstations as necessary to keep the shipping dock flowing. Requirements Legal: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening. ITAR: Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (due to ITAR requirements). Education & Experience: Associate degree (two-year college or technical school) OR 1–2 years of related quality control, inspection, or manufacturing experience. Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of GD&T interpretation. Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100 quality standards, statistical process control (SPC), and Kaizen continuous improvement methodologies is highly preferred. Computer Skills: Must be highly proficient in operating a computer and using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to maintain accurate quality documentation and write inspection reports. Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills to interface diplomatically with other departments when rejecting parts. You must be highly organized, able to multi-task with limited supervision, and capable of handling frequent shop-floor interruptions while remaining efficient. Physical Demands: Must be able to sit and stand constantly throughout the shift. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs safely. Must possess excellent manual dexterity, handling and fingering small aerospace components and precision instruments constantly.
