Summary

EM Microelectronic is an innovative Swiss-based semiconductor company and a wholly owned subsidiary of The Swatch Group, a global leader in watches and advanced electronic systems. EM develops cutting-edge ultra-low-power semiconductor technologies used in wireless communications, RFID, sensing, and energy-harvesting applications. Our U.S. division supports the development of these technologies through a team of IC designers, embedded software engineers, and product and business professionals located in Colorado Springs and Austin.

We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to provide technical support and infrastructure management for our U.S. operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our computing environment while delivering exceptional support to our engineering and business teams. The position offers the opportunity to support a highly technical engineering environment focused on advanced semiconductor development while collaborating with IT teams across the United States, Switzerland, and The Swatch Group.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for all aspects of on-premises Linux systems administration for the Colorado Springs and Austin offices, including support for remote users, while ensuring compliance with corporate IT policies and standards. The role also supports Windows-based systems and users, including Active Directory administration, endpoint deployment and management, hardware and software support, and Windows Server administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain on-premises Linux servers and workstations, including physical and virtual systems, operating systems, hardware, and software.
  • Maintain on-premises Window servers, including system administration, migration of Windows Servers 2016 to 2022, deployment of new server hardware, and OS patching.  Utilize remote management tools such as Dell iDRAC and HPE iLO to configure, monitor, and administer enterprise server hardware.
  • Create, administer, and support user accounts and security groups using Microsoft Active Directory. 
  • Provide help desk support for end-users, account management, hardware and software troubleshooting, network and VPN connectivity issues, application installation, and performance optimization.
  • Specify, procure, and deploy laptops, engineering workstations, simulation servers, peripherals, and related IT equipment.  Install, configure, and maintain end-user hardware, operating systems, applications, printers, and software updates.
  • Maintain software licensing, subscriptions, IT asset inventory, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain EDA tools, design kits, and support libraries in collaboration with EM’s CAD and Linux support teams.
  • Administer enterprise backup and recovery solutions, including Veeam Backup & Replication.
  • Coordinate with Swatch Group IT (SGIT) to ensure systems are properly integrated and supported. Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing activities.
  • Collaborate with EM Headquarters IT and Swatch Group IT teams to implement infrastructure improvements, security initiatives, and corporate IT standards.
  • Develop and manage IT budgets, technology roadmaps, and project tracking activities.
  • Evaluate, test, and implement new technologies to improve operational efficiency, security, and reliability.

Qualifications

 

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant industry experience will be considered.

Desirable Certifications: CompTIA: A+, Network+, Security+, Linux+, Server+. 

Linux-Focused Professional Certifications: LFCSA, LPIC-1/2, RHCSA,

Dell & Microsoft Certifications, CAPM/PMP

Experience: 5 to 10 years of professional Information Technology experience supporting, implementing, and maintaining enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, operating systems, networking, hardware, and software.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $135,000 per year, depending on the candidate's education, experience, technical skills, and overall qualifications. This position is based in our Colorado Springs, Colorado office. Regular on-site attendance is required, and remote work is generally limited to emergency situations or as approved by management.
