Job description

Data Science Analyst

We are seeking a datadriven, analytically curious professional who can transform complex datasets into meaningful insights that inform clinical and operational decisionmaking. In this role, you will partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver accurate reporting, develop dashboards, and support data discovery across the organization. This position plays a key role in ensuring that IU Health leverages data effectively to improve performance, quality, and outcomes.

Reports to: Director - Strategic Intelligence and Market Insights

Direct reports: None

Shift: Full time; hybrid schedule 

Location: Indianapolis, IN

The Scope: 

This role supports IU Health's analytics and reporting needs across clinical and operational areas, including:

  • Working directly with internal and external stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver timely insights

  • Identifying, cleansing, and integrating data from multiple systems and sources

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining reports, dashboards, and interactive data visualizations

  • Supporting and enhancing Business Intelligence (BI) frameworks and information delivery solutions

  • Analyzing data to support decisionmaking, performance tracking, and operational improvement

The Data Science Analyst acts as a key operational partner, transforming complex data into actionable insights that support clinical and business decision-making. This role ensures the accurate, consistent, and effective use of financial and operational data while helping leaders improve outcomes, performance, and overall system effectiveness.

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for this position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

  • Bachelor's Degree required.

  • 3-5 years of experience required.

  • Preferred experience in the healthcare industry.

  • Requires experience with MS SQL Server and MS SSRS.

  • Experience using Tableau, QlikView, Business Objects, Power BI, or other Business Intelligence tools required.

  • Ability to navigate complex, technical projects.

  • Significant experience with Microsoft Excel strongly preferred

  • Experience with Power BI preferred

  • Familiarity with data visualization best practices preferred
