Job Description

At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether itโ€™s supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, weโ€™re not just here to move moneyโ€” weโ€™re here to move our global customers forward.

Weโ€™re looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If thatโ€™s you and youโ€™re ready to do the most meaningful work of your career, we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.

USA Regional Experiences Team

The mission of the USA Regional Experiences team is to grow the U.S. remittance send business by improving the customer experience across the moments that matter mostโ€” onboarding, payment, and disbursement. As an engineer on the team, you will apply your frontโ€‘endโ€‘leaning, fullโ€‘stack skillset to the customer challenges that matter most for growing Remitlyโ€™s U.S. businessโ€” delighting the customer segments most critical to that growth.

You will:

  • Partner with product managers, designers, analysts, and other engineers to gather requirements and deliver scalable, highโ€‘quality software solutions with a customerโ€‘centric mindset.
  • Lead team projects to design and build solutions for ambiguous and difficult problems spanning multiple technologies (TypeScript, React Native, Java/Kotlin, Go) and systems, dividing features into components and tasks that can be worked in parallel for timely delivery.
  • Pioneer the teamโ€™s use of modern AIโ€‘powered development tools to deliver faster while maintaining quality and security standards.
  • Champion engineering best practices by delivering wellโ€‘tested, observable, wellโ€‘documented, efficient, scalable, and resilient systems.
  • Drive improvements to team processes and shape crossโ€‘team technical designs.
  • Foster team growth by mentoring peers, conducting code reviews, participating in interviews, and supporting onboarding efforts.
  • Take part in an onโ€‘call rotation to ensure the reliability and support of the teamโ€™s services.
  • Report to the Engineering Manager of the USA Regional Experiences team.

You have:

  • Strong computer science, web, and native app fundamentals, and knowledge of design patterns.
  • 6+ years of software development experience.
  • Experience using AI throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • 3+ years of React or React Native development experience.
  • Expertise in one of the following programming languages: TypeScript, JavaScript, Kotlin, Java, Go.
  • Excellent collaboration skills.
High Value Send Experience Team

As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the High Value Send Experience team, youโ€™ll build the systems that earn the trust of Remitlyโ€™s highโ€‘value sendersโ€”customers moving large transfers for real estate, education, longโ€‘term investments, and other milestones that shape their financial futures across borders. This fullโ€‘stack role spans customerโ€‘facing web and mobile experiences and deep partnership with foundational teams across identity and trust, money movement, pricing, and more.

You will:

  • Champion the customer experience by using customer signal, product instincts, and data to inform technical decisionsโ€” translating what highโ€‘value senders need into the systems that serve them.
  • Lead technical design and architecture for complex systems that power the High Value Send experienceโ€” breaking down ambiguous, greenfield problems into clear technical strategies and measurable outcomes.
  • Ship reliable, observable, and scalable systems across web, mobile, and backend services that meet strict availability and latency SLOs for the customer flows where trust matters most.
  • Operate AIโ€‘natively because itโ€™s how one person outships a team of ten.
  • Partner with product, design, analytics, and partner engineering teams to translate goals into scalable technical solutions for a diverse global customer base.
  • Strengthen engineering culture by mentoring teammates, leading technical discussions, providing meaningful code review feedback, and advocating for best practices in coding, testing, and system design as we grow this team.

You have:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience, with experience building and operating systems endโ€‘toโ€‘end.
  • Experience building customerโ€‘facing experiences at product scale with TypeScript, React, and native mobile development (iOS/Android, React Native).
  • Proficiency in one or more modern backend languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python, with a record of delivering productionโ€‘quality code.
  • Use AI tools in your own software development workflowโ€”from authoring agents that act as forceโ€‘multipliers that help you scale, to drafting and iterating on technical specs, prototyping or validating concepts using the Claude Code Demonstrated experience designing and building distributed, largeโ€‘scale systems with an understanding of serviceโ€‘oriented or microservices architecture.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including familiarity with managed services.
  • Bonus: Experience in FinTech, payments, or other regulated industries where reliability, security, and compliance shape engineering decisions.
Compensation

The starting base salary range for this position is typically $180,000โ€“$225,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in the company and equity is part of the total compensation plan. Additional medical benefits, financial benefits, and total compensation components are discussed with qualified candidates.
