Position Summary:

Host/Hostess ensures residents receive freshly prepared meals served restaurant-style throughout the day in a professional, caring manner in accordance with federal and state regulations and Oaks Senior Living dining standards.

Assists residents and guests with all aspects of restaurant-style meal service for the Main Dining Room. Sets tables, takes food and beverage orders, serves residents and guests, and clears tables. Ensures dining room is vacuumed, tables cleared and cleaned, and tables reset after each meal service assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must have a satisfactory criminal history check
  • Must have physical exam by a licensed physician
  • Must have a negative drug screen

Primary Responsibilities:

Dining Service

  • Serve food in accordance with nutritional guidelines, local health department regulations, and resident's individual prescribed diet and food preferences
  • Assist care partners with serving quality meals during main meal times in main dining room
  • Serve resident and guest meals in accordance with Oaks All Day Dining program
  • Assist in fostering residents' independence with eating by providing adaptive equipment when needed
  • Ensure healthy snacks are set out at appropriate and scheduled times
  • Acquaint new residents with menus, seating, and dining options and hours
  • Ensure that food is delivered on time and in a pleasant manner
  • Ensure Resident food needs and preferences are known and are being honored
  • Take resident orders for meals on a daily basis
  • Responds to customer service requests and complaints
  • Notify Food Service Director or Lead Cook of any malfunctioning kitchen equipment or appliances
  • Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, condiment containers, and equipment used in the dining room
  • Vacuum dining room after each main meal setting
  • Spot clean carpet as needed
  • Wash and prepare linen napkins for place setting
  • Communicate resident likes and dislikes to Food Service Director for menu planning purposes and resident satisfaction
  • Inform kitchen staff if residents will be out of community at meal time
  • Inform kitchen staff when resident would like to have a meal outside of scheduled meal times
  • Inform kitchen staff when guest will be joining for meal
  • Create a strong sense of team work and cooperation among all staff
  • Ensure table settings are complete and have fresh condiments for the service
  • Prepare and serve beverages including refilling coffee, tea and other beverages during main meals and throughout the day in accordance with Oaks All Day dining program
  • Observes changes in resident status, needs or preferences and communicates them appropriately to Wellness Director
  • Assist care partners with clearing dining tables during main meal times
  • Reset dining tables with place settings and ensure salt and pepper shakers are clean and full, sugar packets and creamers are replenished immediately following meal times
  • Other duties as assigned

Regulatory Compliance and Sanitation

  • Ensure compliance with local health department regulations and the Oaks Senior Living policies and procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dining room environment
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of food in accordance with infection control standards
  • Maintain CPR & First Aid certification.

Physical Job Requirements

To fulfill job requirements, employee must be able to perform key physical task for extended periods of time. Proper body mechanics and safety measures as prescribed by the residence must be used. In a typical eight- hour day, employee will:
