This is a full-time, salaried opportunity with a 7 on/7 off schedule. This means 7 days on, working a 12-hour shift, then the following 7 days off.
Join American Commercial Barge Line in Convent, LA as a Gulf Shuttle Dispatcher and play a vital role in keeping our barge operations running smoothly and safely! In this fast-paced position, you'll coordinate the timely delivery of barges, track load/unload status, and keep customers informed with real-time updates. You'll also collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and execute efficient barge movement plans, all while maintaining accurate records in our Logistics Management System. What you will be doing... YourIMPACT
  • Plan and execute barge and boat schedules within assigned river segment.
  • Identify short-term power needs within assigned river segment.
  • Provide area manager with daily activity forecast and validate current plan.
  • Communicate boat and barge positions, schedules, and other information as required.
  • Update barge release and placement information.
  • Notify customers of pending barge arrivals, projected availability, and barge placements and releases.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating fleet boat and barge movement in a safe manner that maximizes fleet boat utilization and minimizes use of external fleet power.
  • Maximize cleaning and repair facility utilization and minimize barge idle days and shifting costs at internal fleets.
  • Manage vendor activities within assigned river segment with a focus on generating fleet speed and barge capacity.
  • Enter vendor, barge and other traffic data into computer system.
  • Communicate orders to harbor service vendors and coordinate port occurrences.
  • Monitor barge traffic for exceptions and make corrections.
  • Ensure compliance with company policy and government regulations.
  • Initiate process improvements on work flow to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for...
You will need to have:
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • 3-5 Years of logistics experience.
  • Competence in dispatching, logistics or fleet planning techniques.

Even better if you have...
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Proficiency in using office productivity software such MS Office is desired.
