Maintenance Technician

Come join us at Lourdes Noreen-McKeen Residence!  A Faith-Based, Nonprofit, Short-Term Rehabilitation and Skilled Geriatric Care facility sponsored by the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, we've served the community since 1960.   We are a place of life, a place of caring, and more importantly, a true home for our residents. 

We are seeking to hire a Maintenance Technician.

  • $20 to $22 per hour based on skills and experience.
  • Full-Time schedule which includes evenings as needed plus Every Other Weekend.

Maintenance Tech Qualifications:

  • High School or vocational school graduate or equivalent.
  • Three years experience in building maintenance which must include plumbing and electrical experience.
  • Courses in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical, carpentry, drywall or building trades preferred.
  • Demonstrated independent contracting experience in general repairs considered.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations. 

Maintenance Tech Job Summary:

  • Assure that maintenance schedules are followed at all times.
  • Perform routine maintenance including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, painting, etc.
  • Maintain equipment in laundry, kitchen, boiler rooms, and individual air conditioners.
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance as requested.
  • May be required to perform the duties of a Security Guard on a temporary or as needed basis.
  • As scheduled, comply with on-call maintenance schedule for response to call 24 hours a day.

Maintenance Tech Work Conditions:

  • Subject to frequent interruptions and may need to reschedule maintenance activities.
  • Interaction with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc.
  • Subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
  • Must work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holiday, as well as in other positions as needed.
  • Subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
  • May be required to work in cramped spaces and in adverse weather conditions.
