Civil Service Title(s):  Occupational Therapist (Competitive)


Job Description:
The Occupational Therapist evaluates, plans, and provides occupational therapy services to students with disabilities in multiple educational settings to support functional skills, access to the learning environment, and participation in their educational program.

Typical Duties:

  1. Evaluate the degree of function and disability of students.
  2. Develop a written prescription to be incorporated into the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) for each student to receive therapy services.
  3. Provide occupational therapy services in accordance with the written prescription in the IEP.
  4. Develop and apply adaptive assistance devices and/or self-help techniques to achieve maximum independence.
  5. Participate in meetings, including but not limited to team meetings, faculty meetings, department meetings, parent/teacher conferences.
  6. Prepare and maintain appropriate records.
  7. Establish and maintain communications with physicians and community agencies working with the students
  8. Perform such other professionally related duties as may be required by Exceptional Children Administration.


Qualifications:

Must possess or meet requirements for Civil Service title of Occupational Therapist.  Licensed and currently registered by NYS as an Occupational Therapist.
