Job Summary
The School of Nursing at Purdue University West Lafayette Campus is seeking to fill a lecturer position. The position is a full-time academic year position with a desired start date of August 17, 2026. Individuals in this role will contribute to the clinical teaching, engagement and service missions of the University, College of Health and Human Sciences, and School of Nursing. Depending on departmental needs, this posting may be used to fill multiple positions.
Purdue School of Nursing graduates impact health and influence health care delivery around the world. The School of Nursing (SON) is a leader in clinical education, with undergraduate (BS) and graduate degree (MS, DNP, PhD, Post-Master's Certification) programs. The School's undergraduate program is ranked in the top 8% of programs nationally, with the MS program in the top 4% and the DNP in the top 9% according to the U.S. News and World Report. The SON has a diverse faculty which includes 40 clinical and 14 research/tenure-track faculty members, who are leaders in the use of innovative educational approaches including high-fidelity and virtual reality simulation and active learning strategies. Our faculty leads research dedicated to advancing evidence-based care and providing transformative learning opportunities for students. By working alongside experts from multiple disciplines within the College of Health and Human Sciences and across Purdue, students and faculty benefit from a collaborative environment that further distinguishes Purdue's School of Nursing. The SON nursing clinics, which include one campus based and four community-based locations, provide affordable primary healthcare and support education of future healthcare professionals. In 2027, the SON will move into a new state of the art
building which will enable Purdue to offer the next generation of healthcare providers access to a robust collection of spaces that facilitate success in learning, discovery and engagement.
Long Description
Job Duties:
The successful candidate will help contribute to the development of clinical nurse leaders who can transform healthcare. Responsibilities may include:
Delivering lectures and facilitating learning in undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses, ensuring students meet learning objectives.
Overseeing students during clinical rotations, ensuring they apply theoretical knowledge in real-world healthcare settings.
Teaching hands-on nursing skills in simulation labs, focusing on patient care, procedures, and clinical decision-making.
Evaluating student performance through exams, assignments, clinical assessments, and practical evaluations.
Fostering interprofessional education opportunities to promote teamwork and collaboration with other disciplines.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in nursing
Clinical experience (minimum 3 years)
RN licensure in the US; Indiana RN licensure by start of appointment
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
Previous college-level teaching experience
