Job description

Full-Time Event Manager / Sales Consultant

White House Event Center & The Estate — Anaheim & Orange, California

Pay: $25–$30 per hour, plus commissions and performance bonuses
Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Thursday (Event Sales Consultant) 1pm-9pm; Friday, Saturday OR Sunday (Event Management / Coordinator)

About the Position

White House Event Center and The Estate are seeking a personable, motivated, and highly organized Event Manager / Sales Consultant to join our team.

This is a hybrid position combining event sales, client planning, and hands-on event management. Monday through Thursday, you will work with prospective and existing clients—conducting tours, following up with leads, generating new business, and helping booked clients plan successful celebrations. On Fridays and Saturdays, you will transition into an operational role, serving as an Event Manager or Event Coordinator for weddings, receptions, quinceañeras, corporate functions, and other special events.

The right candidate is equally comfortable closing a sale, guiding a couple through their wedding plans, coordinating vendors, directing staff, and calmly solving problems during a live event. This is not a desk-only position. It is an active, client-facing role for someone who enjoys building relationships and seeing each event through from the first inquiry to the final farewell.

Primary Responsibilities

Event Sales and Business Development — Monday through Thursday

  • Respond promptly and professionally to telephone, email, website, and social-media inquiries.
  • Conduct engaging venue tours and consultations for prospective clients.
  • Build relationships with leads and guide them through the decision-making and booking process.
  • Prepare proposals, explain packages and services, and recommend upgrades based on each client’s needs.
  • Maintain consistent follow-up with prospective customers.
  • Meet individual and company sales goals.
  • Generate new business through referrals, outreach, networking, and relationship-building.
  • Maintain accurate client records, appointment notes, sales activity, and follow-up schedules.
  • Assist with contracts, deposits, payment schedules, and required event documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to increase event revenue while providing honest, thoughtful recommendations.

Client Planning and Event Preparation — Monday through Thursday

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients throughout the planning process.
  • Help clients develop their event vision, floor plan, timeline, menu, vendor plan, and logistical requirements.
  • Conduct planning meetings, venue walkthroughs, final walkthroughs, and timeline reviews.
  • Create and revise ceremony, cocktail-hour, and reception floor plans.
  • Review outside vendors, vendor agreements, insurance requirements, and Certificates of Insurance.
  • Coordinate ceremony rehearsals when assigned.
  • Communicate final event details to venue management, culinary, banquet, bar, security, and setup teams.
  • Maintain organized and complete event files.
  • Set realistic expectations while providing responsive, reassuring customer service.

Event Management and Coordination — Friday, Saturday OR Sunday

  • Act as the on-site Event Manager or Event Coordinator for assigned events.
  • Review the venue before guest arrival and ensure furnishings, tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and event areas are prepared according to the approved floor plan.
  • Supervise venue setup and the placement of approved detail items.
  • Welcome and coordinate outside vendors throughout load-in, setup, event service, and breakdown.
  • Lead pre-event staff meetings and clearly communicate the timeline, client expectations, and assigned responsibilities.
  • Coordinate the transition between the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception.
  • Organize and cue the wedding party in coordination with the officiant, DJ, musicians, and other vendors.
  • Cue major reception moments, including grand entrances, first dances, speeches, toasts, cake cutting, and other scheduled activities.
  • Assist with gathering the wedding party, family members, and guests for photographs.
  • Coordinate meal service timing, buffet table dismissals, and special meal requirements with the banquet and culinary teams.
  • Monitor the guest experience and ensure the event remains professional, welcoming, and on schedule.
  • Respond calmly and decisively to timeline changes, vendor issues, client requests, and unexpected situations.
  • Assist with event closeout, client-provided décor, leftover beverages, gifts, and designated personal-item handoffs.
  • Complete closing reports and communicate any important follow-up matters to management. These responsibilities reflect the planning, vendor coordination, ceremony management, reception execution, troubleshooting, and closeout duties outlined in the venue’s Day of Coordination Services document.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in event sales, hospitality sales, wedding planning, venue operations, catering, or event management is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to build rapport, follow up with leads, and confidently ask for the sale.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients, appointments, deadlines, and events simultaneously.
  • Professional, polished, and welcoming demeanor.
  • Ability to remain calm, resourceful, and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable directing staff and communicating with vendors, clients, families, and guests.
  • Proficiency with email, calendars, spreadsheets, customer-management systems, and standard office software.
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
  • Availability to work Fridays and Saturdays, including daytime and evening event hours.
  • Ability to remain standing or walking for extended periods during events and assist with light event-related tasks when necessary.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills are a plus.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a natural relationship-builder who understands that successful events require both excellent salesmanship and exceptional execution. You are persuasive without being pushy, attentive without becoming overwhelmed, and confident enough to take charge when an event is underway.

You take ownership of your clients, follow through on commitments, communicate clearly, and understand that even small details can have a major impact on a family’s celebration. You are motivated by sales goals but equally committed to creating an experience that generates positive reviews, referrals, and long-term relationships.

Compensation

  • Starting pay of $25–$30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Additional sales commissions.
  • Additional performance-based bonuses.
  • Full-time position with weekday planning and sales responsibilities and Friday–Sunday event assignments.
