This role involves working with video footage, sound, graphics, and special effects to create compelling stories or messages. Full time editors typically work for media companies, production studios, or as in-house staff for businesses, and are responsible for meeting deadlines, collaborating with creative teams, and ensuring the final video aligns with project goals. They use software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve to perform their work. Job Description

The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) seeks a dynamic, student-centered, and forward-thinking Digital Media Specialist to provide visionary leadership.

The Digital Media Specialist is a key member of the Digital Strategy team responsible for creating high-quality, social-first multimedia content to support the university's brand and enrollment marketing efforts. This role focuses heavily on video production and editing, developing engaging content tailored for platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Meta and other digital channels.

Working closely with the Associate Director of Social Media Strategy, the Specialist captures, edits and delivers compelling video content, including student stories, event coverage and day-to-day brand moments. Content is primarily captured using mobile and lightweight equipment (e.g., iPhone, DJI or similar tools) while also leveraging professional DSLR, mirrorless and cinema-style camera systems as needed to support higher-level productions and special projects. The Specialist should have working knowledge of professional camera, audio and lighting equipment and be comfortable operating in a variety of production environments, though the role is primarily focused on agile, in-the-field content creation rather than studio-based production work.

The Digital Media Specialist demonstrates strong technical proficiency in video editing tools, such as Adobe Premiere Pro or similar software, with the ability to produce polished, professional edits optimized for platform-specific formats. They have a strong understanding of social video formats, including both short-form and long-form content, and how they perform across platforms, particularly YouTube and TikTok.

The Specialist applies this knowledge to create content that aligns with platform best practices and audience behavior and is able to provide recommendations on how to effectively leverage these platforms, including content structure, pacing and storytelling approaches to maximize engagement and reach.

The Specialist contributes to both organic and paid initiatives by developing multimedia assets that align with campaign goals and creative direction. They are responsible for executing video concepts, repurposing content across platforms and ensuring all deliverables meet brand standards and best practices.

This role emphasizes hands-on content creation and post-production, requiring a strong eye for storytelling, pacing and visual quality. The Specialist applies performance insights and platform knowledge to refine content and enhance overall effectiveness, while staying current on trends, tools and emerging formats.

The Specialist works both independently and collaboratively, managing multiple projects and delivering high-quality content that supports university priorities and elevates the institution's digital presence.
