Job description

About the Position Performs intermediate semiskilled work locating and eradicating mosquitos, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Vector Control Supervisor. Job Duties Preparing truck for nightly pesticide spray.

Operates fogging equipment on designated routes; applies approved pesticides and larvicides in an effort to minimize infestation. Conducts field survey work, analyzes data and maps high-density larvae and adult treatment sites. Performing equipment maintenance.

Position Qualifications Thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures, hazards, tools and equipment used in or associated with dispensing pesticides for controlling carriers of vector born diseases; general knowledge of applicable public health laws, ordinances and regulations; general knowledge of the biology and control of mosquitoes; skill in the application of pesticides; ability to operate all necessary equipment and machinery; ability to evaluate and solve public health pest problems; ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates and others. Education, Experience and Supplemental Information High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in vector control, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
