UH Lakewood Medical Center

Many UHP physicians have teaching responsibilities for residents, fellows, and medical students. The UMKC SOM accepts students directly out of high school for a six-year combined baccalaureate/Doctor of Medicine program. The UMKC SOM Graduate Medical Education program supports over 30 residencies and fellowships.

Job Description

WHO IS University Health Physicians

University Health Physicians (UHP) is the physician group practice for the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKC) in conjunction with its major teaching facility. UMKC supports several residencies and the candidate will have teaching responsibilities for Family Medicine obstetrics fellows, Family Medicine residents, and medical students. UHP is also the primary physician group for Truman Medical Centers Lakewood/University Health in Kansas City, MO.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Department of Community and Family Medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, University Health and University Health Physicians seek a full-time board-certified family physician faculty with or without obstetrics. Our department has a competitive 14-14-14 university-sponsored, community-based residency program located on the eastern edge of Kansas City, MO with a diverse patient population as well as a one plus 2 rural training program with 2 residents per year. We are a full-spectrum Family Medicine department. Duties can include hospital medicine, maternity care, precepting residents and students in clinic (including prenatal, pediatric, adult & older adult, and office procedures), resident mentoring and advising, and scholarly activity including curriculum development and research. We have several community clinics as well and in those locations teaching and academic duties are more limited in scope.


The ideal candidate will have post graduate clinical practice and teaching experience, however residency faculty experience is not required. Training and mentoring will be offered to those new to academic medicine. In addition to a commitment to excellence in resident/student education and patient care, we highly value a commitment to working with the underserved.
