Job description

Job Role: Full-Time Tutor, Learning Coach & Mentor
Location: Trinity Arch Preparatory School for Boys, Phoenix, AZ
Start Date: Fall 2025

About Trinity Arch Prep:
Trinity Arch Preparatory School for Boys is a Christian microschool serving boys ages 9โ€“16. Inspired by the British tradition and grounded in a Christian ethos of love, hope, and service, our school cultivates intellectual curiosity, personal responsibility, and spiritual growth. We offer a mastery-based, personalized learning model emphasizing rigorous academics, character development, and mentorship.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a mission-aligned, full-time Tutor to join our growing school community. This is a mission-critical positionโ€”not merely an academic support role, but a full-time calling to guide, coach, and form boys as confident students and exemplary and young men.

At Trinity Arch Prep, tutoring is not something that happens after classโ€”it is the class. Our "side-by-side tutoring" model means that Tutors work closely with a small group of boys (about 6 students) throughout the day, learning how each student learns and adapting instruction accordingly. You are part teacher, part mentor, and part coach. Your goal: to help each student grow in knowledge, confidence, and character.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily academic instruction and support in:
    • Middle School Math (grades 5โ€“8)
    • Reading comprehension and literature analysis
    • Writing (creative, expository, and persuasive)
    • Science and social studies
    • Socratic seminars and project-based learning
  • Serve as the academic and personal guide for a cohort of 6 boys, ages 10โ€“14
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans to support student mastery
  • Foster meaningful relationships with students built on trust, accountability, and encouragement
  • Lead or assist with afternoon sports activities (e.g., soccer, basketball, fitness training) or co-curricular programs (e.g., chess, music, or art)
  • Model Christian character and virtues in all aspects of the school day
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a joyful, disciplined, and purposeful learning environment

Schedule & Structure:

  • Four-day in-person school week (Mondayโ€“Thursday) with Fridays reserved for at-home learning
  • Tutor will be responsible for hosting Friday virtual โ€œoffice hoursโ€ and supplemental one-on-one or small-group tutoring sessions
  • Afternoon coaching duties will be part of the regular Mondayโ€“Thursday school rhythm

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Committed Christian who believes in the transformative power of faith, discipline, and education
  • Strong content knowledge in core academic areas: math, writing, reading, science, and social studies
  • Warm, reflective, and relational with the ability to connect deeply with boys ages 10โ€“14
  • Passionate about mentorship and committed to understanding how each boy learns
  • Athletic or co-curricular coaching experience a strong plus
  • Comfortable using basic digital tools for instruction, assessment, and communication
  • Eager to contribute to a school that is small in size but big in vision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s or Associate's Degree
  • Experience in teaching, tutoring, or coaching adolescents
  • Familiarity with classical liberal arts education, discussion-based instruction, or individualized learning models

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Full-time salaried position
  • Compensation commensurate with experience
  • Professional development and leadership growth opportunities

To Apply:
Please submit a resume and a brief cover letter outlining your interest in the role and how your background aligns with the mission of Trinity Arch Prep.
