Job Summary

The Staff Telecom Engineer supports the delivery, operation, and lifecycle management of fiber-based connectivity services and outside plant (OSP) infrastructure. This role combines hands-on fiber engineering, vendor coordination, and project ownership to ensure reliable, scalable, and high-performing connectivity solutions for customers and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Service Provisioning & Customer Delivery

  • Provision and manage customer Extended Cross-Connect (XCC) orders

  • Coordinate closely with BMMR providers to deliver customer connectivity services

  • Provision and manage Fiber Connect circuits, ensuring timely and accurate delivery

  • Support customer-related troubleshooting, including fiber outage and connectivity issues

Operations & Incident Support

  • Provide Tier 2 support for fiber outages and customer trouble tickets in partnership with SMC and Site Operations

  • Manage and track work visit tickets for Fiber Entrance (FE) rooms and manholes (MHs)

  • Travel to sites, as required, to support operational activities and incident resolution

OSP Infrastructure & Documentation

  • Maintain ownership of manholes, conduits, and duct infrastructure both on-site and off-site

  • Maintain and update underground infrastructure diagrams (e.g., butterfly diagrams, dynamic charts) for campus, Metro Connect, and Fiber Connect networks

  • Ensure accurate tracking of infrastructure layout, capacity, and connectivity records

Vendor, Carrier, & Project Management

  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and trusted service providers

  • Lead and support outside plant vendor projects, including end-to-end ownership of RFP processes

  • Oversee delivery of tie cables and custom fiber orders (IBIDs)

  • Submit and manage purchase orders through SharePoint as part of procurement and RFP workflows

Fiber Engineering & Technical Expertise

  • Perform fiber testing, validation, and troubleshooting using OTDR and OLTS tools

  • Support quality assurance and readiness of fiber infrastructure prior to service activation

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or 3+ years of experience in telecom, fiber, or OSP/ISP installations

  • Hands-on experience with fiber testing and troubleshooting (OTDR, OLTS)

  • Experience supporting telecom provisioning, operations, or infrastructure environments

  • Familiarity with OSP infrastructure (manholes, ducts, conduits, fiber pathways)

  • Relevant certifications such as RCDD, RTPM, or CFOS/T are preferred

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - NY6 New York City : 100,000 - 150,000 USD / Annual

United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 90,000 - 136,000 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
