Oncology Pharmacy Technician
Location: Fairbanks, AK
Pay: $27.00/hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday
Hours: 7:30 AM–4:30 PM or 8:30 AM–5:30 PM, depending on clinic needs

TDL Staffing is seeking a licensed Pharmacy Technician to join a busy oncology and infusion practice in Fairbanks. This specialized role offers the opportunity to work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals while supporting the safe preparation and handling of medications used in oncology and infusion care.

Previous oncology experience is preferred but not required. If you're a licensed Alaska Pharmacy Technician interested in expanding your skills in a specialized clinical environment, we encourage you to apply.

In this role, you'll assist with medication preparation and compounding, hazardous drug handling, inventory management, documentation, quality assurance, and patient safety. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, committed to accuracy, and comfortable working as part of a collaborative healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, biologic, and supportive care medications according to physician orders and established protocols
  • Accurately calculate medication doses, volumes, concentrations, and dilutions
  • Compound sterile and non-sterile medications in compliance with clinic policies and regulatory standards
  • Accurately label medications and verify patient identifiers and medication documentation before dispensing
  • Handle hazardous medications using required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow USP <800> hazardous drug handling requirements
  • Utilize biological safety cabinets, laminar airflow workbenches, and other approved engineering controls as required
  • Monitor medication inventory, expiration dates, storage conditions, refrigeration, and temperature requirements
  • Assist with medication purchasing, ordering, and inventory management
  • Maintain accurate medication preparation records, required logs, quality assurance documentation, and medication tracking
  • Follow established medication safety, infection prevention, and hazardous drug procedures
  • Report medication variances, safety concerns, wastage, discrepancies, and medication shortages as required
  • Communicate with physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, and staff regarding medication availability, preparation status, and inventory needs
  • Support safe, efficient patient care and patient flow within the infusion department

Minimum Requirements
  • Current Alaska Pharmacy Technician license
  • Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand motions and fine motor tasks
  • Ability to wear required PPE and a mandatory mask for extended periods
  • Ability to safely perform duties involving hazardous medications
  • Background screening is a part of the hiring process
Previous experience working with oncology medications is preferred but not required.

Work Environment
This position works in an oncology and infusion practice with frequent exposure to hazardous medications, chemotherapy agents, biological materials, and infectious diseases. Required PPE and approved engineering controls are used to support safe medication preparation and handling.

Attire: Scrubs; no specific color required.
