Barback - Big Chill Surf Cantina

Job Description

Summary of Position: At Big Chill Surf Cantina, Barbacks play a key role in keeping the bar running smoothly and the vibe right where it should be. In this role, you’ll support the bartending team by staying ahead on stocking, prep, and overall cleanliness, making sure everything is set up for seamless service from start to finish. This is a fast-paced, hands-on position that requires awareness, hustle, and a team-first mindset. Barbacks help drive both the flow of service and the feel of the space by keeping the bar and surrounding areas clean, organized, and ready for whatever comes next. Strong communication is essential. You’ll keep bartenders in the loop, flag issues quickly, and stay one step ahead to help service run smoothly. If you take pride in the details, move with purpose, and know how to work hard while keeping things fun, you’ll fit right in. Must Enjoy the Ride!

Duties amp; Responsibilities:

  • Organize and shelve beer and liquor deliveries
  • Prep juices, mixes, and daily bar ingredients
  • Stock glasses, coasters, napkins, straws, and bar essentials
  • Prepare and maintain fresh garnishes throughout shifts
  • Monitor bar stations and proactively restock before items run low
  • Replace kegs and retrieve bottles from storage as needed
  • Wash and restock glassware and bar tools
  • Keep the bar, service areas, and surrounding guest spaces clean and organized at all times
  • Clean spills promptly at the bar and in guest areas
  • Remove trash, used glassware, and reset spaces quickly for incoming guests
  • Maintain overall bar cleanliness, including wiping down bar tops, tables, and high-touch surfaces
  • Restock bottles and maintain strong bar presentation standards
  • Clean and maintain shakers, blenders, and other prep equipment
  • Communicate consistently with bartenders to support smooth service
  • Flag low inventory, equipment issues, or guest-related concerns in real time
  • Stay aware of the flow of service and jump in where needed to support the team
  • Assist bartenders and teammates with additional tasks as needed

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old;
  • Some relevant experience helpful;
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation;
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States;
  • Flexibility of schedule to assume responsibilities as needed, ability to balance personal amp; professional life;
  • Must work nights and weekends;
  • Professional appearance, punctual, reliable;
  • Hospitality soul with guest friendly demeanor;
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency and be able to work in very fast paced environment;
  • Advanced written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills;
  • Well organized;
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, word processing, spreadsheet, internet, POS;
  • Frequently walk and occasionally bend over, twist, kneel, climb, stoop and crouch.
  • This position requires the ability to lift up to 55 pounds and maneuver 170 pounds as well as climbing up and down stairs quite frequently during shifts.
