The Master's Program is a 21-month, Graduate Degree program, beginning annually during the 3rd week of August and is completed upon fulfilling the requirements of their graduate degree coursework through DBU and Sky Ranch's program requirements This Master's Program position is critical to the ministry of Sky Ranch and contributes directly to our mission of leading youth and families to know and follow Christ. Upon completion of the program, students will have earned a Graduate Degree, completely paid for by Sky Ranch, in one of Dallas Baptist University's accredited Ministry Degree programs. Students are also provided with food/meals and assigned housing for the duration of the program.
This position exists to help individuals continue in their education through one of the accredited Ministry Degrees provided through Dallas Baptist University, while simultaneously being a full-time employee of Sky Ranch. Those within the program are trained in the various areas of ministry within Sky Ranch, to provide an excellent and safe experience for all Sky Ranch guests. Master's students work full-time within a variety of areas of camp, including working as instructors within our School Programs department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • August through May: Primary responsibilities includes working within the Outdoor Education department, teaching classes 5 days per-week.
  • Assist as needed within food service and retreats dept, by working in the dining hall, setting up meeting rooms, facilitating activities, and assisting guests with arrival/departure, as needed.
  • Assist retreat coordinators with security, gate radio and urgent guest needs responsibilities throughout the year as needed.
  • Support fundraising & marketing events throughout the year, outside of weekly schedule. (Up to 2 weekends per year)
  • Participate in Monthly Community Group
  • Meet quarterly with the Fellowship/Master's Manager
  • Regularly attend a local church- seeking opportunities to serve as able.
  • Summer Months: Mid-May through Mid-August- assigned to one of the various sites to support the various Sky Ranch ministries.
    • Summer 1: (between school years) Day Camp (DFW area), Summer Camp -Van, Cave Springs, or Ute Trail Summer Camp - Horn Creek.
    • Summer 2: optional, based on Sky Ranch's needs and student's interests

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain D.B.U. satisfactory academic standards during the duration of the program.
  • Maintain compliance with Sky Ranch's employee policies and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree

EXPERIENCE
  • In-depth understanding of the field of camping and/or Christian ministry preferred generally acquired through a minimum of one year or summer of related experience in camp ministry

KNOWLEDGE
  • Possess personal spiritual discipline that models a proactive approach toward personal, spiritual, and relational health.
  • Interest in leadership skills necessary to appropriately influence people to achieve a desired outcome.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Physical effort required on a routine basis; ability to use up to 50 pounds of force frequently and 50 pounds of force occasionally for moving, lifting, and carrying objects. •
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull, carry or otherwise manipulate objects; ability to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles and foot and/or hand-eye coordination.
  • Work requires a lot of physical agility for doing majority of assigned work, including but not limited to: bending for items below or reaching for items above the individual; crawling under desks; stooping, and climbing step stools or ladder.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Works indoors in normal office environment about half of the time and outdoors the other time exposed to the seasonal weather elements of specific camp location.
  • Must reside in on-camp housing during the Masters program.
