Job description

Sherwin-Williams is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Floor Planning System Specialist to support store planning initiatives across our retail network. This role is responsible for leveraging Blue Yonder Floor Planning software to develop and maintain store floor plans and category planograms for new, remodeled, and relocated stores.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Real Estate, Store Planning, Category Management, and other cross-functional teams to optimize space utilization, maintain system data integrity, and ensure floor plans align with category performance and business objectives.

What You'll Do

  • Utilize Blue Yonder Floor Planning software at an advanced level to support floor planning activities across all Sherwin-Williams stores.
     
  • Create, manage, and maintain store floor plans and planograms for new, remodeled, and relocated store locations.
    Partner with Division Real Estate teams to incorporate CAD-generated store layouts into the Blue Yonder environment.
     
  • Analyze category performance data to justify and optimize planogram placement using performance-to-space methodologies.
     
  • Develop recommendations that improve space productivity, product visibility, and customer shopping experience.
     
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of fixture libraries, databases, and floor planning templates.
     
  • Generate floor plan outputs and documentation to support store execution and operational consistency.
     
  • Identify opportunities to improve floor planning processes, standards, and system efficiencies.
     
  • Support cross-functional stakeholders with floor planning analytics, reporting, and implementation guidance.

Required:

  • Bachelors degree and/or 5+ years in Corporate Retail or related field.  
  • High Proficiency in BY Floor Planning software. Examples include building layouts from scratch, space performance analysis and Category merchandising standards/rules.
  • Microsoft office utilization (Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Expertise in fixture variations and manufacturers.
  • Candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer, analytical, project management and motivation skills required. 

Preferred:

  • Masters degree in Business 
  • Extensive merchandising/layout experience in a corporate retail environment
  • CAD - Computer Aided Design expertise or certification
  • Project Management related to defining scope, coordinating tasks, ensuring stakeholder alignment and implementing changes
  • Blue Yonder Data Manager experience  
  • Blue Yonder Space Management experience
  • Proficient in MicroStrategy and Business Objects. 

Merchandise and create store layout for use with Blue Yonder Floor Planning software.  

  • Create New, remodel and relocation stores within BY Floor Planning that best represent the physical space as it relates to the CAD drawings received by division real estate.
  • Represent the sales floor as well as office space, back room, restrooms, decor area, etc. to replicate electronically the actual physical space occupied by these elements.  
  • Gain and maintain alignment with key stakeholders on Category merchandising standards/rules and initiatives.

Run financial reports to assist in the decision-making process for placement of category planograms on the sales floors.

  • By using data mining tools such as Micro Strategies determine priority categories and sizes that best represent the potential sales for each store layout.
  • Review and update floor plans as new projects, merchandising initiatives, category changes, and strategic priorities are introduced, ensuring space allocations remain optimized and aligned with business goals.
  •  

Maintain Blue Yonder Floor Planning database, fixture library and output templates.

  • Create and maintain JDA Fixture Library for gondola, wall, display and racks for use with Floor Planning.
  • Ownership of Data integrity within Floor Planning.
  • Template revision and creation with variations for size and configuration.
  • Lead the creation of Floorplan layout document(s) for in store field personnel to use as a setting tool with schematic of category planograms placement.

Address any email coming in from the field.

  • Monitor the group email for any concerns or issues from the field.
