What is a full time sports copy editor?

Full time sports copy editors are professionals who review, revise, and prepare sports-related content for publication in print or digital media. They ensure articles are clear, accurate, and adhere to the publication’s style and standards. Sports copy editors also check facts, correct grammar and punctuation errors, and often write headlines or captions. Their work is crucial for maintaining the credibility and readability of sports news and features.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time sports copy editor, and why are they important?

A Full Time Sports Copy Editor requires a strong grasp of grammar, AP style, and sports terminology, often supported by a degree in journalism, English, or a related field. • Proven sports knowledge, including a deep understanding of sports beyond the four pro major sports leagues
  • Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed (this is not negotiable)
