Summary:
Provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Reports to: Director or Manager of Emergency Department
How You'll Contribute
As an RN at Maria Parham, you'll:
  • Deliver compassionate, high-quality care across a variety of patient needs
  • Utilize your clinical expertise to guide and implement individualized plans of care
  • Serve as a patient-care innovator, using the latest technology and best practices
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes

What you will do
  • Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments and other medical care activities
  • Documents patient care provided.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient and family.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition and ambulation.
  • collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals and psychosocial/spiritual support needs.
  • Evaluates patient and family learning needs and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition and circumstances.
  • Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts or units as needed.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, Older Adult
  • Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Board
  • Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees
  • Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, lifting/moving patients and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications and latex.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina (or compact license)
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
  • ACLS and PALS (must acquire within 90 days of start date)
  • One year of RN experience
