Job description

The Water Resources Professional Engineer is responsible for leading efforts such as planning, modeling, analysis, permitting, designing, and delivering water resource infrastructure projects from conception through construction completion. This role manages projects as a technical leader to provide innovative engineering solutions for water supply, distribution and storage, wastewater collection, and other infrastructure projects, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, as well as coordinating with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver effective solutions, while also mentoring engineering staff and supporting business development efforts. This is a full-time position, paid bi-weekly on a salary basis.

  • Lead the planning, analysis, design, and execution of water resource projects including conveyance, water supply, distribution and storage, wastewater collection, groundwater, and other infrastructure projects using industry-standards and software.
  • Perform and oversee modeling, analyses, studies and evaluations.
  • Prepare and review engineering technical reports, calculations, design documents and specifications, construction plans, permit applications, and other technical documents.
  • Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies to obtain permits and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and design standards.
  • Review project details to identify and proactively manage risks.
  • Develop practical, innovative engineering solutions while proactively identifying project risks and resolving technical challenges.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record for assigned projects, ensuring quality, schedule, budget, and client expectations are achieved by managing project budgets, schedules, staffing, and resources to successfully deliver projects and meet established goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, municipal authorities, regulatory agencies, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings, client presentations, public meetings, and coordination with multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates, and client presentations in support of team members and business development efforts.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to company standards by reviewing work prepared by engineering staff and providing direction as needed.
  • Conduct periodic field visits, site assessments, and construction observations to support project design and successful implementation.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to EITs, designers, and engineering staff while supporting their professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Oklahoma. 
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in water resources engineering, municipal infrastructure, water supply, storage and/or distribution, wastewater collection, or related civil engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering practices and principles with awareness of current industry trends.
  • Strong understanding of engineering project management methods including time, cost, resource planning, client relationships, budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, construction documents, permitting packages, and engineering calculations.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, problem-solving skills, and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of utility infrastructure design, applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and workplace safety standards.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact across all organizational levels.
  • Commitment to mentoring junior staff and fostering technical excellence.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with ArcGIS and modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or similar is preferred but not required.
