The Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU), Advanced Programs group has an opening for a Software Engineer - Level 3 or 4 (mathematician/algorithms developer/software engineer). We are working on an autonomous distributed tracking system - Join our high performing software team and come make history with us! The position is located on-site in Boulder, CO. Boulder is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and only 25 miles from downtown Denver.
Join the Advanced Programs team as a Mathematician with Linux environment and C++ software development exposure.
Essential Functions:
  • Performance analysis of tracking and state estimation algorithms
  • Tool and prototype development using modern C++ v20+ and Python
  • Algorithm defect tracking and resolution
  • Analysis tool development (Python)
  • Technical documentation input as required
  • Input to customer-facing presentations

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Software Engineer - Level 3 or a Sr. Principal Software Engineer - Level 4.
Basic Qualifications for a Software Engineer (Level 3 or 4):
  • Principal Software Engineer - Level 3: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience, or 1 year of experience with a PhD.
  • Sr. Principal Software Engineer - Level 4: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 6 years of related experience, or 4 years of experience with a PhD.
  • An active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start; with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
