Position Description:
Develops applications (using Java EE and Spring framework), and applies event driven transaction processing (using ESB) and messaging patterns (using WSO2, ActiveMQ, ASB, and Tomcat technologies). Builds and completes service delivery roadmaps. Creates and maintains high quality service documentation. Writes concise and clear technical specifications based on analysis of complex business requirements. Coordinates multiple development work streams through integration and ensures architecture is scalable and extensible. Builds automation pipelines by leveraging DevOps concepts and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools -- Jenkins, Maven, and Git. Provides business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
  • Designs applications or subsystems on major projects and for/in multiple platforms.
  • Develops applications for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.
  • Assists in the planning and conducting of user acceptance testing.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications supporting several corporate initiatives within the stock plan services business domain of Workplace Investing.
  • Responsible for post-installation testing of any problems.
  • Establishes project plans for projects of moderate scope.
  • Works on complex assignments and often multiple phases of a project.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several initiatives.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and maintaining web applications, using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices and Angular in a financial services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing and maintaining web applications using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices and Angular in a financial services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") developing cloud native applications using Java, SpringBoot, Microservices Oracle Relational Database Management System (RDBMS), Db2 RDBMS, and Azure; writing unit tests with a test-driven development approach using JUnit and Mockito; and testing applications with Insomnia.
  • DE designing and developing responsive web applications using Spring Model-View-Controller (MVC) modules, Swagger-UI, and Web security technologies (OAuth and SAML) within the financial services industry; and ensuring application security and removing security vulnerabilities by applying web security principles (Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF)), while using secure code scanning tools (SonarQube).
  • DE applying DevOps principles throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC) -- performing continuous integration (using Jenkins), continuous deployments (using IBM UDeploy), and code scan (using Sonar) for Web applications; and identifying performance bottlenecks and implementing improvements for web applications, using JProfiler and Datadog.
  • DE writing SQL queries and integrating databases into Java Spring applications, using Mybatis with Object Oriented principles; and performance tuning applications by implementing Redis Cache, stored procedures, data structures, pagination, sorting, and filters.
