Axiom Bank, N.A.

Maitland, FL โ€ข On-site

$114K - $150K/yr

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Retirement, PTO

Job description

At Axiom Bank, we encourage you to aim for the sky and leverage your expertise and passion to excel. We are a growing, dynamic organization - this is an exciting time to get on board!
We believe in the value of promoting a healthy work/life balance and are committed to recognizing the role everyone plays in our ongoing success. We offer the following benefits to our Full Time Employees:
  • 12 Paid Holidays
  • Generous Paid Time Off
  • 4% Match on our 401(k)
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits
  • 100% Company Paid Life, AD&D Insurance, Short and Long Term Disability
About the Role
We're a growing bank building our digital presence - a modern digital banking and data platform backed by robust core integrations and cloud-first infrastructure. This isn't a maintenance role. You'll be one of the first senior engineers on the team, writing production code every day while helping lay the technical foundation for everything we build.
Because we're early, you'll have a genuine seat at the table on technology choices such as the stack, patterns, and tooling. We're looking for someone who takes that responsibility seriously: an engineer who is deeply hands-on with real banking or fintech experience, and who is ready to grow into a technical anchor for the team as we hire and scale.
What You'll Do
  • Design, build, and ship features across our digital banking platform - full-stack, from backend services and APIs through to customer-facing interfaces
  • Help shape and document the technology decisions that define how we build: language and framework choices, architecture patterns, data modeling, and integration approaches
  • Integrate with banking cores, payment rails (ACH, wire, real-time payments), and third-party fintech partners
  • Own your work end to end: requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support
  • Leverage AI and agentic tooling to augment the software development lifecycle (SDLC) using approved tooling such as Agentic IDEs, LLMs and harnesses, spec-driven frameworks, and skills
  • Keep up to date with AI and agentic related developments related to software development and participate in related discussions and decisions
  • Write clean, well-tested, reviewable code and hold the same standard for your teammates through thoughtful code review
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline health and cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Mentor and support engineers as the team scales through code review, pairing, and leading by example
  • Collaborate directly with product, compliance, and operations stakeholders to turn requirements into well-designed, auditable systems
  • This position does not include supervisory responsibilities

What We're Looking ForRequired
  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong full-stack background - solid on the backend, capable on the front end
  • Demonstrated experience in banking, payments, or regulated fintech such as core banking integrations, payment rails, or compliance-aware systems
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture, API design (REST and/or gRPC), and event-driven patterns
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including deploying and operating services in production
  • Familiarity with AI/LLM developer tooling or agent-assisted development workflows
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Relational database proficiency: schema design, query optimization, and data modeling
  • Track record of writing well-tested, maintainable code and conducting meaningful code reviews
  • Clear communicator who is able to work directly with product and non-technical stakeholders, and to make and defend technical trade-offs
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and ownership in an early-stage environment where not every decision has been made yet
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering/technical discipline required.

Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience with ISO 20022, ACH, wire transfers, or real-time payment systems
  • Banking core integration experience
  • Batch and ETL processing experience in a financial data context
  • Container orchestration experience (Kubernetes or similar)
  • Experience across multiple persistence patterns - relational, NoSQL (document, key-value), and analytical/warehouse stores
  • Prior involvement in greenfield projects where you've contributed to foundational technology decisions

Working Conditions
This position may be hybrid or fully remote. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required during critical implementations, incidents, or regulatory activities.
Some travel will be required to head quarters in Maitland, FL on an as needed basis.
Why This Role
You'll join early, work on meaningful problems in a regulated but fast-moving environment and have real influence over how we build, not just what you're assigned to. No legacy codebase to be trapped in, no technology choices already locked in. Just a small, capable team building modern banking infrastructure with the freedom to do it right.
Other Duties -Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
