Job description

Our client is looking for a Paving Screed Operator who will be responsible for operating and controlling the screed on an asphalt paving machine to ensure a smooth, even, and properly compacted surface. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and coordination with the paving crew to meet project specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the screed controls on an asphalt paver to regulate depth, width, and smoothness of the asphalt mat
  • Adjust screed settings to maintain proper grade, slope, and crown according to project plans
  • Monitor asphalt material flow and temperature to ensure consistent paving quality
  • Coordinate with the paver operator, roller operators, and ground crew for efficient workflow
  • Perform routine checks and minor maintenance on screed equipment
  • Identify and correct surface irregularities during paving operations
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  • Read and interpret project plans, grade stakes, and specifications
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 2+ years of experience operating paving equipment, specifically screeds
  • Strong understanding of asphalt paving processes and materials
  • Ability to read grade stakes, blueprints, and layout drawings
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not always required)

This role is based in Bowmansville, PA and is an on-site role.
