PENN HILLS SCHOOL DISTRICTINFORMATION TECHNOLOGYBUILDING LEVEL POSITION TITLE: Computer Technician SALARY: $38,316.10 TEMS: 240 Days QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma, required.Associates Degree, Technical Training/Certification or equivalent related job experience, preferred.Pass a computer proficiency test in basic computer knowledge, PC hardware, current Windows Operating System, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.Possesses a level of computer proficiency, which demonstrates an ability to operate/repair computer equipment, and install computer software as directed.Ability to carry out prescribed duties independently with a minimum of direction.Demonstrates effective, positive, accurate and timely communication skills, both verbal and written, including technical knowledge bases, when working with end users.Ability to function effectively in a calm manner under stressful situations.Demonstrates willingness and ability to learn new systems and technology.Demonstrates ability in handling confidential matters in an ethical manner.Possesses sound organizational skills and an ability to recognize and change work priorities in a fast-paced environment.Personal transportation and valid PA driver's license required. REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: The Computer Technician provides on-demand technical assistance and support for all networks and computer users in the district. This includes software, hardware and operational support to ensure minimal down time and efficient staff productivity

Typical duties include but are not limited to installing and maintaining computer systems including software and hardware; installing and testing network infrastructure equipment including switches, routers, servers, printers, copiers, scanners and associated cabling; determining causes of computer/software/network malfunctions through evaluation, testing and standard resolution practices. PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES: Assists with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of data communications circuits and equipment for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective district and site operations.Conducts fault isolation and repair of work stations throughout the district, to include file server disk subsystems, file server computer and LAN communication hardware for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective district and siteDiagnoses/repairs equipment including district personal computers and/or terminals using hardware and software diagnostic tools for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer and networkDiagnoses/repairs LAN software programs for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective district and site operations.Installs/configures software as needed for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective district and site operations.Installs/maintains network cabling and network peripherals throughout the district for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective district and site operations.Installs and upgrades computers and peripherals throughout the district for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective district and site operations including classrooms, library, computer labs and offices.Installs appropriate software/hardware components in the LAN system for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective district and site operations.Manages remote and central administrative LAN by adding/deleting users to Directory Services and email for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective district and site operations.Relocates computer hardware, peripherals and equipment as needed for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective district and site operations.Assists end users (e.g. troubleshooting software, hardware problems and user support) for the purpose of supporting them in the use of technology.Attends approved seminars, webinars, workshops, district meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.Orients end users for the purpose of applying new technologies and procedures and ensuring their ability to use new and/or existing software.Prepares written assignments (e.g

reports, memos, letters, network layouts, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.Transports a variety of items (e.g. servers, network equipment, routers, printers, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials at the job site or transporting equipment for repair.Adheres to all District policies and procedures concerning the use and maintenance of technology for the purpose of maintaining safe and effective district and site operations.May be assigned to other buildings as needs change. Accepts schedule and duty assignments required to support district activities.Provides evidence or documentation of periodic updating of skills for existing/emerging technologies.Troubleshoots and remedies reported hardware and software problems independently or with inside collaboration/outside vendorPerforms other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
