Sales Arborist โ€“ Tree & Plant Health Care

Location: Church Falls, VAย  (Northern VA/Washington DC)
Position Type: Full-Time
Reports To:ย Operations Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and relationship-driven Sales Arborist to grow our Tree & Plant Health Care division by selling services to both residential and commercial clients. This role is ideal for a consultative professional who enjoys diagnosing plant health issues, educating clients, and closing work that improves the long-term value of landscapes.

The Sales Arborist will follow up on inbound leads, perform on-site evaluations, and develop tailored solutions that include tree care, plant health care, and preventative maintenance programs. This is a high-visibility role that blends technical arboriculture knowledge with strong sales instincts.ย  They will have a book of clients that they will be able to service which will lead to additional sales.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Client Development

  • Respond promptly to inbound residential and commercial leads.

  • Conduct on-site consultations to assess tree and plant health conditions.

  • Educate clients on treatment options, preventative care, and long-term landscape health strategies.

  • Prepare and present proposals for tree care and plant health care services.

  • Build lasting client relationships that drive recurring revenue and referrals.

  • Maintain an active pipeline and consistent follow-up cadence.

Tree & Plant Health Expertise

  • Diagnose pest, disease, nutrient, and environmental stress issues.

  • Recommend and sell services such as:

    • Tree pruning and removals

    • Integrated pest management (IPM)

    • Deep root fertilization

    • Soil health programs

    • Growth regulators

    • Disease and insect treatments

    • Preventative PHC programs

  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure accurate scope and execution.

Operational Collaboration

  • Partner with field crews and operations leaders to ensure smooth project delivery.

  • Provide clear job scopes, notes, and client expectations.

  • Conduct site walk-throughs as needed to ensure quality and client satisfaction.

  • Support upselling opportunities during follow-ups and seasonal visits.

CRM & Reporting

  • Track leads, opportunities, and sales activity in CRM.

  • Maintain accurate proposal and client records.

  • Forecast pipeline activity and support sales reporting.

  • Participate in team meetings and sales planning sessions.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in arboriculture, plant health care, or green industry sales.

  • ISA Certified Arborist preferred (or ability to obtain within 6โ€“12 months).

  • Strong knowledge of tree species, pests, diseases, and treatment methods.

  • Proven ability to sell consultative, service-based solutions.

  • Comfortable working with both residential and commercial clients.

  • Valid driverโ€™s license and ability to conduct field visits daily.

Preferred Experience

  • Background with tree care companies, landscape firms, or PHC providers.

  • Experience selling recurring service programs.

  • Familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce, Aspire, LMN, HubSpot, etc.).
