• +5% Bilingual Differential over base pay if qualified
• $40/day stipend when serving as scheduled backup for 24/7 SafeLine

BACKGROUND

JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a compassionate, resourceful, and skilled advocate to join our team in supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, teen dating violence, and other forms of abuse. The Confidential Advocate works directly with clients, providing case management, crisis intervention, emotional support, prevention education, and advocacy services. This position is vital in helping clients build safety, resilience, and hope, while also empowering their families and support networks.
Some work with youth clients may be required. You will be part of a passionate, collaborative team working to create a safer, more supportive community.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Direct Advocacy & Support

• Provide trauma-informed, age-appropriate crisis intervention, emotional support, and safety planning
• Conduct intakes, needs assessments, and goal planning with clients
• Assist with coping skills, resiliency-building, and navigating peer/family relationships
• Offer legal advocacy (e.g., court accompaniment, protection orders, reporting support, Title IX navigation)
• Guide clients through applications for U visas, T visas, and VAWA relief
• Help clients connect to medical, mental health, housing, employment, and other essential resources
• Facilitate support groups for survivors
• Respond to on-scene crisis calls, including medical/SANE accompaniment
• Provide scheduled back-up coverage for our 24/7 SafeLine ($40/day additional pay)

Program Support & Collaboration

• Maintain accurate and confidential client records (digital and paper)
• Assist in collecting data for grant reporting and small grant applications
• Support shelter staff and projects as needed
• Contribute to volunteer training
• Stay informed on best practices in advocacy and prevention
• Actively participate in team meetings, case consultations, and community partner collaborations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

• Preferred: Bilingual Spanish/English fluency
• Preferred: Background or education in domestic violence, sexual violence, or related fields (training available for candidates with other relevant experience)
• A deep passion for supporting survivors
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Commitment to justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion
