What is a full time road construction flagger?

Full Time Road Construction Flaggers are workers responsible for directing and controlling traffic around road construction sites to ensure the safety of both the work crew and the public. They use signs, signals, and hand movements to guide vehicles safely through or around construction zones. Their job is crucial in preventing accidents and maintaining an efficient traffic flow during roadwork. Typically, flaggers work outdoors in all weather conditions and must remain alert to changing traffic situations.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a full time road construction flagger?

To thrive as a Full Time Road Construction Flagger, you need a solid understanding of traffic control procedures, safety regulations, and often a flagger certification from a recognized authority. Familiarity with traffic control devices, two-way radios, and personal protective equipment (PPE) is typically required. Strong communication skills, alertness, and the ability to stay calm under pressure make someone stand out in this position. These skills and qualities are vital to ensure the safety of workers, drivers, and pedestrians in dynamic and potentially hazardous road construction environments.
