GBX Consultants, Inc. is accepting resumes for a full-time Registered Nurse. The Registered Nurse is a member of the Health and Wellness Program and provides primary nursing support for illnesses, injuries, dental concerns, medical needs, and other student healthcare matters.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts scheduled sick call; assessed students; provide authorized treatment for minor, illness and injury; administer medications and treatment under approved physician, standing orders.
  • Refer students to physicians, dentist, clinics, emergency, facilities, mental health, professionals, and other community resources when services exceed the Center's-on site capabilities.
  • Coordinate follow up care, communicate test results and treatment information to authorized parties, maintain medication and treatment documentation, and monitor students who require continued clinical attention.
  • Provide student health education on hygiene, sexual health, prevention of communicable disease, and other subjects related to student wellness, academic participation, vocational, success, and employability.
  • Participate in all aspects of the biochemical testing program and ensure the integrity of the program is maintained.
  • Participate in Tobacco Use Prevention (TUPP) and ensure students are aware of the program.
  • Participate in Healthy and Active Life Styles (HEALS) committee and collaborate with various departments regarding HEALs.
  • Collaborate with center mental health counselor and center medical providers in the monitoring of in case management of students on psychotropic medications.
  • Ensure patient privacy for all assessments; maintain, safeguard, and ensure the confidentiality of all required student health records when they are in the health clinic or in the possession of health and wellness team members, in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have an active, current, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of performance.
  • Minimum one year of experience as RN providing assessment and treatment services to adolescence and young adults.
  • Possess the ability to work both independently and as a member of a healthcare team to provide optimal services to a population of financially disadvantaged youth, typically ranging from 16 to 24 years in age.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug testing.
