Job description

We are seeking a full-time RN Fellow for our Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Inova Alexandria Hospital.  Critical Care Fellowship is for an experienced RN transitioning to the MSICU. 
Night shift position - 3 x 12-hour shifts 7pm-7am. (Must be available to orient during various shifts).
This is a highly collaborative and engaged work environment with great leadership. The MSICU is a 20-bed unit, 2:1 ratio. Patient population includes cardiopulmonary failure, adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), sepsis, multi-organ dysfunction, Pulmonary hypertension, Pulmonary thrombosis, Shock syndrome(s), renal failure. advanced medical conditions & co-morbidities, post-op complicated surgical cases.
As a Registered Nurse Fellow, you will communicate effectively with patients, families, team members and medical providers. To help achieve our mission, you will create a collaborative team working environment while displaying respect for and an understanding of various clinical disciplines. Using a focused and integrated approach toward improving desired patient outcomes and patient experience of care delivery is of vital importance. Your participation in learning new knowledge, developing new skills and meeting program objectives to be able to practice in assigned patient care delivery settings while utilizing and applying new knowledge is essential. Demonstrating willingness to learn under the direct supervision of an experienced RN and through various other training formats is required.

MSICU RN Fellow minimum qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of one year of Registered Nurse experience. 
  • Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing.  If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
  • Licensure: RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an RN
  • Certifications: BLS for Healthcare Provider certification required from American Heart Association. ACLS preferred or within 90-days. 

MSICU RN Fellow preferred qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of RN experience.  
  • Unit involvement
