What You’ll Do 

As a Specialty Registered Nurse, you will report to the Practice Manager (BMG). Under general supervision, provides nursing care and performs nursing procedures specific to the specialty practice in support of medical care as directed by the physician. Prepares patients for examinations, records patients' medical histories and symptoms, performs diagnostic tests, operates medical equipment, administers treatment and medications. May assist a physician in minor surgery and with patient follow-up. Completes laboratory duties as necessary. Routinely communicates with patients and physicians in a professional and courteous manner. 

Specialty Registered Nurse(RN)  Job Responsibilities:

Clinical Care & Patient Support

  • Provides routine nursing care and treatments as directed by physicians, including preparing patients for exams, taking vitals, administering medications, and collecting lab specimens.
  • Assists physicians with procedures, diagnostic tests, and specialty-specific interventions (e.g., minor surgeries, stress tests, pacemaker monitoring, EKGs, non-stress tests).
  • Directs patients to appropriate departments, interprets physician instructions, and educates patients and students as applicable.
  • Maintains orderly patient flow, prioritizing emergencies, and documents all patient interactions, test results, and communications according to guidelines.

Administrative & Coordination Duties

  • Completes HMO referrals and insurance pre-admission screenings.
  • Assigns and supervises back office staff, monitors workflow, and assists as needed to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Performs chart audits, updates patient records, and posts test results with physician review.

Equipment, Safety & Compliance

  • Prepares, maintains, and monitors IV lines; assembles equipment for procedures.
  • Cleans, sterilizes, and stocks instruments and supplies; manages emergency cart and audits narcotics as assigned.
  • Maintains exam room cleanliness, follows OSHA and universal precautions, and ensures proper disposal of contaminated waste.

Professional Development & Department Support

  • Maintains personal competence and contributes to overall department effectiveness.
  • Prepares required reports and completes special projects or other assignments as directed.

What You Bring 

As a Specialty Registered Nurse, it requires a comprehensive knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice, including competency in performing nursing care procedures, observations, treatments, and techniques used in the clinic. You will demonstrate advanced analytical skills to assess patient conditions, interpret data, solve patient-related problems, provide care throughout planned treatments, and recognize medication allergic reactions. You will competent in conscious sedation and proficient in peripheral intravenous (IV) access procedures, including starting and monitoring IVs. You will respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations with care and professionalism. You will exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients, physicians, visitors, and colleagues while establishing and maintaining professional relationships. You will possess organizational, office, and computer skills required for recordkeeping, filing, and other essential functions, with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and maintain close attention to detail while supporting BMG’s goals.

Required Qualifications 

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of a nursing program from an accredited school of nursing.
  • A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Indiana is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience is required. Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required and must be maintained.
  • Certification in CPR is required and must be maintained.
