Your day to day as a Registered Nurse (RN) PACU
As a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) in the PACU at Minden Medical Center, you will be a vital part of our patient recovery team. Daily expectations include monitoring vital signs, evaluating patient responses to anesthesia, and providing compassionate care to ensure comfort during the recovery phase. You will collaborate closely with surgeons and anesthesiologists to manage any complications that may arise post-surgery.
Your schedule will primarily be Monday through Friday, with a commitment to taking call as assigned, ensuring our patients receive continuous care. Expect to partake in patient assessments, document care accurately, and assist in educating patients and their families about recovery protocols. This role requires you to stay dynamic and responsive to the ever-changing needs of your patients, truly embodying our commitment to excellence in healthcare.
Are you a good fit for this Registered Nurse (RN) PACU job?
To thrive as a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) in the PACU at Minden Medical Center, you should possess a combination of clinical expertise and interpersonal skills. A minimum of 1 year of operating room or PACU experience is preferred, ensuring you are familiar with the fast-paced recovery environment. Certification in AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) is required, and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are recommended to enhance patient safety and care. Technical proficiency in nursing software and tools will be essential for documenting patient progress accurately and effectively.
Additionally, readiness to take call shifts is crucial, as you will need to report to the hospital within 30 minutes of being summoned. Your critical thinking and strong communication skills will enable you to provide exceptional care in a collaborative setting.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
  • 1 year OR/PACU experience preferred
  • AHA BLS required, ACLS, PALS, NRP recommended
  • All OR Staff must take call (unless otherwise stated) and be able to report to hospital within 30 minutes of being called. PACU staff will take call (unless otherwise stated).
