Education Requirement:
High School graduate or G.E.D. preferred with basic reading and writing skills.
Experience Requirement:
Construction experience and/or foundations, earth retention experience is a plus; experience around drill rigs, small diameter drills a plus; shotcrete experience helpful
Special Skills:
Welding exp or certification preferred, drill rig experience/knowledge preferred
Travel Requirement:
Willing to travel: VA and MD
Geotechnical Skilled Laborer
Travel: required throughout VA, DC, MD, & NC
Pay Range: $20.00/hr- $27.00/hr (Based on experience)
We are currently looking for Geotechnical Skilled Laborers to join our Geotechnical Group across VA and other locations throughout the Mid Atlantic. Work is performed outdoors year round. Employees will be exposed to wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather conditions. This individual must have the ability to communicate and work well with others. Experience in earth work, drilling, concrete, welding and small tool operation is preferred. We are seeking candidates preferably with AWS welding certifications d1.1 and/or d1.5. Qualified candidates must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Construction experience with caisson, tiebacks, welding, drill rig experience/knowledge, and/or concrete experience a huge plus.
This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.
This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred
  • AWS Welding certification is preferred
  • Reliable transportation and Valid Drivers License is required
  • Construction experience is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities:
  • Carry, load, or unload materials
  • Dig with picks, shovels, air hammers, jack hammers or other construction related equipment as required
  • Arrive to project site on-time and participate in job discussions and daily safety meetings
  • Lift and place lagging boards onto shoring walls
  • Work with and maintain construction related equipment when needed (grout machines, drilling machines, compressors)
  • Work with hoses for all types of machines on the job site
  • Responsible for safety of self and others. Required to wear proper jobsite PPE as directed

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds to above shoulder level throughout work shift
  • Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift
  • Must be able to climb ladders
  • Must be able to work at heights up to 150 feet
  • Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands
  • Must have the ability to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height - and the ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces
  • Required to have acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing
  • Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather
