Job Title: Material Handler / Forklift Operator

Location: Toronto, ON

Reports To: Warehouse / Production Supervisor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious Material Handler / Forklift Operator to join our team in Toronto. In this dual-role capacity, you will be responsible for both the physical handling of freight (general labor) and the safe operation of forklift equipment to move, stack, and load materials throughout our facility. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and possesses a valid forklift certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Operation: Safely and efficiently operate forklifts (e.g., Counterbalance, Reach Truck, or Walkie) to move materials, pick orders, and stack inventory in designated areas.
  • Material Handling & Order Picking: Load and unload incoming/outgoing shipments from trailers. Manually lift, sort, and stage materials (up to 50 lbs) as required by production or shipping schedules.
  • Inventory Control: Verify incoming product counts against packing slips, report discrepancies or damages, and accurately update inventory sheets or RF scanning systems.
  • Facility Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace by sweeping floors, disposing of debris, and ensuring aisles remain clear of obstructions.
  • Safety Compliance: Perform daily pre-operational forklift inspections and strictly adhere to company safety policies and Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating a forklift in a warehousing, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
  • Certification: Must possess a valid, Ontario-approved Forklift Operator license/certification (Counterbalance and/or Raymond Reach preferred).
  • Physical Capability: Ability to stand for long periods, walk throughout a large facility, and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Technical Skills: Experience using RF scanner guns and basic warehouse management systems (WMS) is a strong asset.
  • Communication: Good verbal and written English communication skills for reading order sheets and collaborating with the team.
  • Reliability: Strong punctual attendance record and a safety-first mindset.

Working Conditions:

  • Fast-paced industrial warehouse or manufacturing floor environment.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures depending on the season.
  • Standard PPE required at all times (CSA-approved steel-toed boots, safety vest, etc.).
