Your Role:

EMD Serono in Billerica, MA is seeking a Senior Scientist - Medium Scale Oligo Synthesis to add to their Oligonucleotide Therapeutics Group (DDTech).

Responsibilities:

  • Design, synthesis, purification and analysis of ASO, siRNA and/or its conjugates to small molecules, Peptides, Dyes and Antibodies.
  • Operate Mermade 12 and Akta Synth synthesizers using Phosphoramidite chemistry. Solid phase synthesis of oligonucleotides at medium scales (20 mg -1.0 g).
  • Large Scale Purification and Ultrafiltration of oligonucleotides by anion-exchange and reverse-phase HPLC systems.
  • Utilize knowledge of oligonucleotide and precursor synthesis, purification, as well as familiarity with analytical methods in oligonucleotide drug development.
  • Present funding in team meetings.
  • Maintain a well-documented laboratory notebook and follow the safe laboratory practices.
  • Multi-task across several projects and manage time effectively to achieve results.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or other Science or Engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of direct experience in oligonucleotide chemistry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Oligonucleotide Synthesis, Deprotection and Purification techniques
  • Knowledge and background in bioconjugation chemistry including antibody-drug conjugates and related linkers
  • Experience in conjugation/bioconjugation chemistry. Solid-phase synthesis techniques with oligonucleotides or peptides
  • Expertise in chromatography purification techniques and troubleshooting
  • Strong laboratory skills and experience with analytical instrumentation such as NMR, HPLC, LC-MS, etc. with the ability to analyze, interpret, and clearly present data

Pay Range for this position: $111,100-$166,600

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors.
